Dominic Statton is starting to question if he is in the right job. He doesn’t mind the long hours. Or the supervisions. Or the risk assessment forms. Or the timesheets. It’s the “having to kill people” that’s making him a little squeamish.

Dominic Statton is Death. One of many Deaths actually. Dominic works in the “Grim Reaper industry”. Lately, Dominic has started to wonder if he may be more suited to a less graphic position. This comic and poignant monologue is written and performed by ARC Associate Artist Michael Edwards.

Michael Edwards is a writer and performer from Stockton-on-Tees. He recently took part in Apples and Snakes’ Public Address, a mini tour of five regions across the country with four other poets. He was poet in residence in Thornaby library as part of Apples and Snakes’ My Place or Yours project, and has performed poetry at The Big Chill and Summer Sundae festivals.

Most people know when they’ve made a wrong decision. But what happens when someone is convinced theirs is the right one? Optimism is a twisted tale of desire and self-worth told through the eyes of an idiot.

Blending dark clown with multimedia and unusual physicality, this production is both brutal and dreamlike, presenting a constant stream of unlikely characters, peculiar situations and striking visuals.Fuzzy Logic are a new company co-founded by Total Theatre Award winner Matt Rogers (Chotto Ookii Theatre Company) to create bizarre yet touchingly human stories with a darkly comic edge.In the face of constant rejection Optimism may not always be the best defence.
