ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The “I Can” Summer Youth Internship in Technical Theater Management is an intensive and challenging six‐week theater production program that focuses on the technical and management aspects of running a performance venue. Interns can expect to perform basic, everyday tasks for the benefit of the theater such as staffing shows, house management and stage production.

This year, interns had the opportunity to work alongside Cola Lewis during THEARC Theater’s “Showtime Tuesdays” movie presentations for young children.  They managed the entire production including assisting Cola with “Cola Bola’s Reading Rescue” story time before each showing.  Lastly, interns participated in weekly workshops, “The Green Room Series,” with some of Washington’s top professionals where they were equipped with new skills and knowledge of what it takes to succeed in entertainment and the performing arts.

“Imagination is more powerful than intelligence.” ‐ Patrick Wallace

As a volunteer at THEARC, it was a fun and exciting experience that I would definitely recommend to my peers. It is a great job opportunity to learn about the arts and theater. I look forward to working here in the future.

“Live life to the fullest.” – Anaia

I enjoy working this internship as a whole. I enjoyed my coworkers and management. My work experience was fun and I actually enjoyed the summer.  I gained a lot of knowledge on sound, lighting, front of the house, set design and I would invite my friends to work here.
