What it is Scams Preperations Outcome “Scary World”

WHAT’S SO SCARY?

Computers used a “two digit” date system (xx/xx/xx).

With the year 2000 coming, computers would use the date xx/xx/00; worried people that the computer would think this meant 1900

This would create chaos with banking, hospitals, airlines, security, broadcasting and everything else.

Thought we would go back to the “caveman era” with no technology

Many went into panic and fell for Scams and prepared for what you would think a natural disaster

SCAMS

Bank Account and Credit Card Fraud Y2K insurance, credit card cons, and

computer-sellers who trick people into replacing their PCs because their supposedly "non-compliant" systems might explode

RESULT

Small technical difficulties occurred in place across the world, but nothing serious resulted from the year change.

Computers handled the Millennium change just fine

OTHER “SCARES”

9 September 1999- Date 9/9/99 could be mistaken with the number 9999 used for unknown Dates

Year 2010 problem- “Y2K+10”

Year 2038 problem
