Weltmeister Akkordeon Manufaktur GmbHThe world’s oldest accordionmanufacturer | Since 1852
made in germany
Our “Weltmeister” brand is famous among accordion enthusiasts the world over.
At Weltmeister Akkordeon Manufaktur GmbH, we supply the music world with Weltmeister solo, button, piano and folklore accordions, as well as diatonic button accordions.
Every day, our expert craftsmen and accordion makers create accordions designed to meet musicians’ needs. And the benchmark in all areas of our shop is, of course, quality.
160 years of instrument making at Weltmeister Akkordeon Manufaktur GmbH in Klingenthal, Germany, are rooted in sound craftsmanship, experience and knowledge, passed down carefully from master to apprentice. Each new generation that learns the trade of accordion making at Weltmeister helps ensure the longevity of the company’s incomparable expertise.
History
Klingenthal, a centre of music, is a small town in the Saxon Vogtland region, directly bordering on Bohemia. As early as the middle of the 17th century, instrument makers settled down here, starting with violin makers from Bohemia. Later, woodwinds and brasswinds were also made here. In the 19th century, mouth organ ma-king came to town and soon dominated the townscape with a multitude of workshops. By the year 1840 or thereabouts, this boom had turned Klingenthal into Germany’s largest centre for the manufacture of mouth organs.
Accordion production started in 1852, when Adolph Herold brought the accordion along from Magdeburg. At that time the accordion was a much simpler instru-ment, very similar to the mouth organ, and so it was easily reproduced. The ensuing years saw the creation of well-known brands such as Barcarole, Contasina, Firotti, Horch and Royal Standard, as well as the esta-blishment of accordion making as a senior branch of industry in the so-called musical corner of the Vogtland region. Numerous patented inventions stand as a testa-ment to the creativity and imagination of the engineers and accordion makers of that time.
In 1948, several factories were merged into a nationally owned enterprise, VEB Klingenthaler Harmonika-werke, while other factories of the region united to form handicraft cooperatives or partly fell under state control. Finally, in 1973, all remaining factories and workshops were incorporated into VEB Klingenthaler Harmonikawerke, creating a merged workforce of over 3500.
Production consolidation also had its benefits. More than 30 engineers and technicians worked to stre-amline the instrument making process and improve quality and customer service. A number of inventions also came about at that time, including the plastic key-board supported on two axes and the plastic and metal mechanism that can be fully removed with two screws.
Outstanding artists’ instruments were developed, such as the Weltmeister Supita, followed by brave innova-tions such as the Weltmeister Consona or the Barcarole Sonaphon.
The breakdown of the GDR meant the breakdown of this industry’s market, as the introduction of the Deutsche mark quadrupled the price of East German products overnight. Against this background, many operative parts of the company were hived off again. In 1992, VEB Klingenthaler Harmonikawerke was transformed into Harmona Akkordeon GmbH, where we continue to produce – exclusively in Klingenthal – the Weltmeister accordions so popular around the world. Beginning 1 October 2017, Harmona Akkordeon GmbH is operating under a new name: Weltmeister Akkordeon Manufaktur GmbH.
Our solo instruments range from the bargain-priced instrument for first-timers, the Weltmeister Cassotto, to the Supra for sophisticated demands. The Supita II is our top of the range model.
Our button accordions are available as B and C systems, in various sizes and with different features both for beginners and advanced players. Keyboards suppor-ted on five axes and smooth-running bass mechanisms as well as high-grade workmanship are attributes of our Weltmeister accordions.
Our Weltmeister piano accordions range from small instruments for novices to large orchestra models. Their distinguishing features are outstanding key-boards, smooth-running bass mechanisms and top quality.
Our folklore series is available either with standard or Helicon basses. The two reed ranks for tremolo can be switched separately, so that the you can use the different tremolos as the whim takes you. Its timeless design provides the finis-hing touch to the Weltmeister Monte.
Our diatonic range of instruments offers a start for everyone. Whether you are looking for a Styrian accordion or the Wiener 571 popular in Mexican music, the small and light-weight 86W when you are on the move, or the Cajun accordion important in the Tex-Mex, we have a suitable instrument for everyone.
Special instruments – The orchestra bass for a rich sound base and the Weltmeister Freebass for freethinkers complete Weltmeister’s product range.

The intro model
The Weltmeister Cassotto combines all the advantages of a cassotto accordion with the lightweight body of a standard instru-ment. At only 10.4 kg, the Cassotto is nearly as light as the comparable Topas IV, but it has the cassotto, which lends a different sound to the basic and lower reed ranks. The instrument's light weight is due to the special filling cassotto, a resonance duct that is not built into the accordion, but placed on the filling.
This makes the accordion easier and more cost-effective to service and tune. This Weltmeister accordion is as much at home in an orchestra as it is with a soloist on stage and it holds its own with all types of music.
The Cassotto model is available with 37 keys and 96 bass buttons as well as with 41 keys and 120 bass buttons.

Romance 602, 603
Small, but mighty
The Weltmeister Romance 602 offers a wide tone range with 36 treble tones packed into a small box. The five-laye-red keyboard allows for comfortable and balanced playing across all buttons, and the standard Weltmeister bass mechanics (extendible to 96 bass buttons) are evidence of the instrument’s high-quality standards.
This accordion is not only suitable for lessons, but is also per-fect for taking on the road or playing on stage thanks to its light weight.
The Weltmeister Romance 603 is nearly as compact as its smaller sibling, the 602, but has an extended tonal range thanks to its third treble reed rank. In addition to musette, waltzes and jazz, the deep reed rank also allows you to play tango music.

Weltmeister Children’s Accordion
Weltmeister from the very start
We’ve collaborated with music schools to develop a new accordion that meets the needs of both early learners and their instructors.
As a successor of the ‘Mini’, the children’s accordion has a pleasant rounded shape and features the same keyboard as its big sibling, the Weltmeister Rubin, ensuring a comfortable playing experience.
The accordion features two tremolo-tuned treble reed ranks as well as six bass tones and six major chords. The bass buttons are now smaller and closer together, making them better suited for children’s hands. These improvements will help lay the foundation for many years of successful accordion playing.

The Weltmeister Achat is the all-rounder amongst Weltmeister accordions. It gives players plenty of
room for creativity with its large tonal range and sound variations in both treble and bass, as well as
with its light weight. There’s a reason this is the most popular Weltmeister model.
The Achat is available with 72 or 80 bass buttons, and is even extendible to 96 bass buttons with the unique standard Weltmeister bass system. The easy-to-play biaxial treble mechanics and outstanding articulation round off this model.

Topas III, IV
The orchestra instrument
The Weltmeister Topas is the big sister to the beloved Weltmeister Achat. With 37 keys and 96
bass buttons, it offers a range that is well suited for classical music. It has three treble reed ranks that lend
themselves well to musette, jazz and tango music, and yet it remains relatively lightweight for an instrument
its size.
The Weltmeister Topas IV offers everything that a player’s heart could desire in an instrument its size. It’s small and compact yet has 37 keys and 4 treble reed ranks, leaving little to be desired in terms of sound. The treble is comple-mented by a powerful bass side that lays a solid foundation with its deep tones.

Wiener 86 w / Wiener 405
Small and stylish
The Weltmeister Wiener 86W is characterised by its attention to detail. The black box with ornate gold embossing and curved grill give this small instrument a large amount of style. The black lacquered grip, genuine leather thumb loop and gleaming corner protectors round off the look of this elegant instrument. Its adjustable bass strap makes it suitable for hands both big and small. Like all Weltmeister instruments, our smaller accordions are finely tuned with optimised articulation. Thus, even our smallest instrument guarantees an enjoyable playing experience.
The difference between the Wiener 86W and the Wiener 405 is that the 86W comes in black with elaborate gold embossing, while the 405 is available in pearloid colouring.

The Wiener 521, also known as the “Corina III”, is an adap-ted version of the Wiener 509 with double tremolo tuning.
In contrast, the Wiener 520, or “Corina”, is technically similar to a Styrian accordion. It has a stepped keyboard and treble switches for five different tonal colours. This instrument is available with octave or musette tuning (double tremolo), leaving little to be desired in comparison with other smaller accordions.

Wiener 571
The Mexican accordion
The Weltmeister Wiener 571 is especially beloved in the western United States and in Mexico. It was born of the Wiener 509 and features 34, rather that 31, but-tons so the diatonic scales are extended lower.
The light weight, good articulation and finely adjusted mechanics speak to the high Klingenthal quality of this instrument, which pleases players and audiences alike.

Steirische Harmonika
The sound of the Alps
The Weltmeister Steirische Harmonika is designed in the style of traditional Klingenthal instruments and stands out thanks to its light weight. The sound is just as one might wish for from a Styrian accordion with its double middle reed ranks and helikon bass.
The switches allow the various tremolo tones to be combined as desired, giving the accordionist optimal means of expression. The trimmings and strap round off the overall look of the instrument. This is an accordion that you can take any-where thanks to its weight – even up into the mountains.

Melody bass accordion, beloved for playing single bass tones.

Freebass 26, 26 k
For free spirits
Some accordion students aren’t satisfied with the standard bass options; they want to play as freely with
their left hand as they do their right. So we created the Weltmeister Freebass, which allows players to freely play melodies and chords with their left hand as well.
During its development, we made an effort to keep the instrument as light as possible so students could just focus on playing. The FB 37 is available with 34 keys and 37 bass buttons in the piano version.
Let your bass run free!

An accordion consists of about 2,500 individual parts, and it takes about 5,000 work steps to finally enjoy its marvel of sound. Far more than 90 per cent of all parts, whether made from wood, metal, plastic, celluloid, fabric, board or paper, are manufactured here at Weltmeister in Klingenthal.
