UltRa-light gl aSS lenSA full 20% thinner and lighter, our Ultra-Light glass lens is the most optically superior lens on the market. Serengeti® glass lenses are made from only the finest materials — providing unsurpassed visual acuity.

The process begins with borosilicate optical glass from Corning,® which can withstand extreme temperature changes. The lenses are chemically tempered to ensure scratch and impact resistance, then ground to perfection with diamond wheels and polished to remove any microscopic imperfections. Lastly, to ensure exceptional clarity and flawless quality, each lens is laser inspected.

Although machines programmed to exacting tolerances perform the bulk of the work during this critical phase, the lenses are closely monitored and hand inspected by highly qualified technicians.

The lenses then undergo Serengeti’s patented Hydrogen Firing Process. Hydrogen-fueled Lehr furnaces activate each lens with our photochromic and Spectral Control® technologies — with varying high temperatures deter- mining their proprietary lens color. After the lenses cool, they are treated with a unique coating that protects their edges, all while being closely monitored by a technician.

Pol aR PhD™ lenSIt’s not every day a sunglass manufacturer wins the coveted international Silmo d’Or Award. Actually, it had never happened before, until the Serengeti Polar PhD™ lens took home the honor for innovation and performance.

Built with NXT™ technology and made from Trivex® material, which is 75% lighter than glass and 10% lighter than polycarbonate, our Polar PhD™ lens offers stunning visual acuity and the utmost UVA/UVB protection. Every lens incorporates three technologies that control the way light interacts with it. Photochromic technology instantly adapts to changing light conditions. Spectral Control® manages specific colors in the light spectrum for the utmost definition, contrast and color enhancement. And polarization minimizes distracting surface glare on the road and reduces eye fatigue.

Additional advancements include our hydro- and oleo- phobic coatings on the front and back of each lens, which help repel water, fingerprints, dirt and debris — and a seven-layer optical anti-reflective coating absorbs glare to eliminate backside reflections.

Photochromic technology was not only pioneered by Serengeti®, it’s engineered into every lens we make.

Serengeti® photochromic lenses work by adjusting to changing light conditions, so your eyes don’t have to. Darkening in bright sunlight and lightening in overcast conditions, the lenses allow you to experience enhanced contrast and discern shapes and colors more quickly. Our photochromic lenses are also extremely effective in fog, rain and low-light conditions, delivering a better view than you’d get without Serengeti®.

This amazing versatility is why Serengeti sunglasses are the preferred choice of drivers, as well as military and commercial pilots — in fact, they’re the ultimate for anyone who encounters a wide variety of light conditions on a daily basis.

The human eye can have difficulty adjusting to changes from light to dark, and this may cause eyestrain and the loss of important detail. Serengeti photochromic lenses prevent this from happening — they do the work for you.

In brighter conditions the UV radiation is more intense, triggering the polarity of the molecules in the lens to expand in size, making it darker to absorb more light. When UV radiation isn’t as intense, the molecules shrink and separate, allowing additional light to pass through. This provides the optimal amount of light at all times.

And because Serengeti® photochromic technology is embedded within the lens, it never wears off or wears out — so you’ll always have the clearest, most high-definition view of everything around you.

The Norway coastline may be untouched and beautiful, but if light is being reflected off a myriad of surrounding surfaces, you’ll have trouble appreciating it. This kind of glare is not only annoying, but also sacrifices clear vision and can hinder your view of the road.

A highly useful and versatile technology, Serengeti® polarized lenses are perfect for driving, as well as skiing, boating or any other potentially high-glare outdoor activity. The reason our polarizing technology is so effective is that it acts like microscopic venetian blinds, organizing the light coming through the lens. Only parallel light rays are allowed through, while distracting perpendicular light rays are absorbed.

We incorporate only the most optically correct and technically efficient polarizing technology, embedding it into the Serengeti® glass lens so it’s impossible to wear off. Our Polar PhD™

lens features polarization technology that is microscopically infused into the lens, generating a high level of durability.

Serengeti® polarized lenses eliminate all four types of glare, which cause eye fatigue and can impede vision:

� distracting glare caused by car headlights or shiny reflections

� discomforting glare caused by everyday outdoor conditions

� disabling glare caused by excessive intense light

� reflected glare bouncing off of smooth, shiny surfaces such as water, pavement, sand and snow

SPECTRAL CONTROL®

Serengeti’s® Spectral Control® filters are an integral part of our sophisticated lens system. These filters are specifically designed to interact with the full spectrum of light and selectively manage light wavelengths, fine-tuning your vision. Haze and glare are dramatically diminished, contrast enhanced, eye fatigue reduced. The result: objects appear sharper and more clearly defined regardless of the weather conditions.

“Blue Blur” occurs when blue light, the shortest and harshest of light wavelengths, focuses in the front of the eye’s retina instead of the back, where other light waves tend to focus. This natural phenomenon can reduce the sharpness of images and cause eyestrain and fatigue. Serengeti® lenses block this distracting blue light, letting just enough

through so colors are not altered. This allows for a richer and more color-balanced view that helps relax the eyes.

Serengeti® photochromic lenses also pass the Traffic Signal Recognition Test, which gauges the amount of red light a lens actually blocks. If a red traffic light appears red through the lens, the sunglasses pass. If the red light appears blackish, as it does when viewed through most blue-blocking sunglasses, they fail.

Photochromie Adaptation de la teinte du verre en fonction de la luminosité. Réduction de la fatigue oculaire engendrée habituellement par les variations de luminosité. Recommandé dans tous les cas de photophobie et en post-opératoire.
