Preface

The main objectives of the project “If you want to see the beauty of the world, first you have to find it in yourself” are: to enhance the quality and European dimension of pupil

communication, to encourage the learning of English language, to turn public opinion to some social problems like elderly

people, sick, orphan and in need children, homeless animals, lonely mothers,

to employ art and creativity for the benefit of those with social problems,

to give to our pupils the opportunity to show to other people the beauty of their personality,

to improve their skills, to make new friends of their age, to share with their European friends the manners in which they

can do interesting things in order to bring happiness on the faces of the sad people around us.

These objectives are being aimed to be achieved through of a lot of activities. One of which included creating a brochure with short poems composed by our children having the title “The Wonderful World of Childhood”. The participating countries in this activity were Romania and Malta. The pupils from both schools (“Liviu Rebreanu” School, Mioveni Town, Arges County and Maria Regina College, St. Paul's Bay Primary) were delighted to cooperate in order to prove that they can be gifted in creating poems in Englis. Together, our pupils have composed forty poems.

The coordinators teachers,Ms Ana Tudor (Romania) and Ms Isabelle Debono (Malta)

TOYS INSTEAD OF GUNS

Page 4: The Wonderful World of Childhood

How to cure the world’s huge painWhen children cry under stars and rain? How to clean the earth’s big tearWhen kids’ hearts are ruled by fear?

Please, don’t kidnap the children’s gameAnd keep in mind: all are the same;Instead of guns, toys let’s buy;Tell them the truth and cease to lie.

Children’s faces are like the sun –Bright of joy when goodness is done,By means of human facts of all,Added through what friendship we call.Living for money, adults bet – Smiling for friends, kids choose a pet;Let’s fight for this amazing world,Hating wars as books are gold.

Learning to help people a bit,We give the children the hope’s hit; They listen to a magic songFar from on this planet it’s wrong.

OVER THE WORLD

All over the worldUs children need parents who love us

and our parents too need our love and hugs. When my parents go abroad on business,

I miss them so very muchbut I know they’ll keep in touch.

Millions of parents are hoping that their children have a happy childhood

by giving them love and whatever they could!

MY CHILDHOOD

My childhood is filledwith bicycles and tricycles.

My childhood is filled with classwork and homework.

But most of all my childhood is filledwith family and friends;

with parents who love me,and lovely brothers and sisters. This is my precious childhood

which I’ll never forget!

FRIENDS MUST BE MORE

The trees in blossom try to love,The orphan kids, the flight of dove; The old in loneness start to aid – For being human world is made.

Why in only special casesSomeone looks in their faces,Telling them a simple “sorry”,Followed by a warm “don’t worry!”?!

For whom are really these words? Are for in need or those in boards?Careless in an armchairIt’s hard to know who can bear.

A gentle smile the mountains move,A sincere word kindness can prove;Beauty we can discover nowBut it’s an art to know it how.

The streets are full of kids in need,On fields the plants lose their seed,A lot of care earth looks forBut for all that friends must be more.

MaltaDON’T LOOSE THE BELIF IN GOD

A hard breathe the planet has got,Surrounded now by hate a lot,And only kids’ smile can destroyHate’s arrows when they get a toy.

Now “crisis” seems to be the word –It tries to plug a harmful sword; But I think it’s not a reason –Don’t kill the charm of each season.

Let’s say no violence in schools,Obeying strictly all the rules;By means of projects let’s have funIt’s time to dance, to sing, to run.

We have to be good, even ifSome people have lost the beliefIn God, life principles or love – ‘Cause a grey sky is seen above.

And unfortunately there areSad, lonely souls which, by far,In vain wait for a sunny dayAnd wish a house, a bright ray.

MaltaTHE GREEN GOLD

Friends, let’s protect the green goldLoving nature as God told; The happiest becomes each heartWhen plants are green, people are smart.

An immense tear earth will dropIf after work there is no crop;Adopt a tree or a flowerAnd build from smiles a nice tower.

The wind sings a concert for leaves,For birds a poet sonnet gives; Happy kids their nests careGlad a colt smiles to a mare.

Yellow tulips dance a folk reel,On a path runs a little veal;Nice flowerbeds like soldiers stayAnd greet the people every day.

The green gold our health isLike for a sailor the sea’s breeze; So, dear friends, let’s protect itAnd we’ll be happy when we meet.

JOYFUL SEASONS

Oh, look, how joyful seasons are! They liked the story told by star; They will always be together,To far away they say “never”.

Proud I the old year‘Cause his daughters are still near;Earth feels their separationIt cannot fight for duration.

The spring plays the first in the show,Announced by snowdrops, you know; The summer festival is made By tulips and by rain it’s paid.

A brown carpet autumn shows,So sad are the leaves of a rose; The white of snow brings children’s joyAnd sledge is their favorite toy.

But two of seasons seem to be Accepted by mountain and seaBecause menaced by heat earth is,It cannot all mankind to please.

OUR MAGIC IONSTRUMENTS

A violin begins to playA gorgeous ballad every day;Its lyrics depict a great past – Along the ages they will last.

A magic flute remembers usCulture remains when ages pass; And a guitar the taste wakes up Each generation stops a gap.

A mandolin in a school band Is like a queen of a nice land; Two crickets try to learn the song And ants’ hunger won’t be too long.

Well, an amazing concert starts – For music tremble all the hearts;Music knows to make us betterMore often we’ll write a letter.

When we are sad, when we are ill,The instruments have then a deal:First they promise to make us strong, To stop what in this world is wrong.

MaltaTREES WITHOUT A FOREST

The files of life are wrong sometimes,Cruel they are to tell in rhymes;Without kids, life is so dull,Without mums, fate is a tool.

Sad is to live in a shelter,Waiting in vain to be better;Like trees without forest areThe lonely kids whose parents far.

And every woman, just a nurse,When she takes out from her purseA little money or a sweet,For them sun starts to shine a bit.

A broken leg or a hurt knee Cared by mum they cannot be;And for each tear on the cheekA handkerchief dad doesn’t seek.

Later, when they grow up, hardlyChildren will remember sadlyOf the first ball, just the first bikeAnd other toys they most like.

MaltaTHE WONDERS OF ART

A dreaming landscape we can drawWhere king is the lovely rainbow; So, we shall talk to the flowers – They will choose for us the colours.

The green leaf smiles to the raindrop,The mountain is bright to the top,A lemon and an orange talk And they prepare a short walk.

To draw means to feel life through art,To show the beauty in the heart,Often with open eyes to dream,From colours we achieve a cream.

We can cure the hurts with it,The injuries which soul hit; That’s why more beautiful life isWhen art succeeds wonders like this.

More human lives rescued can be – It’s wonderful for you and me;So, let’s create together artLet’s learn poems and songs by heart.

MaltaIF GOD IS WITH US

A great flute singer told once“Don’t worry, if God is with us,Nobody against us will be”;Let’s keep in mind, both you and me.

To help many people in needThere are a lot of groups indeed; But our project team will solveThe problems in which we’re involve.

The magic word will be friendship,In schools and churches we’ll worship; When faith in our souls there isThen birds are angels in the trees.

To orphan houses we shall goThen our steps God will follow; We’ll give kids toys, even booksAnd sweets made by us – little cooks.

A lot of photos we shall takePresenting actions children make; Friends, charity is very fine,It is from God a special sign.

I love Nico with all my heart,And I pray we never part.

MaltaI AM A CHILD LIKE YOU

My friend, a child like you I amAnd daily I go by life’s tram;Despite my cheeks are always wetOf rude tears, on hope I bet.

Teach me a song, read me talesI’ll paint a path full of snails;Send me a card, teach me a game, Make our childhood be the same.

Let’s cross our hands for success,We play football, handball or chess;Together we’ll learn to competeTo be fair with friends we meet.

I’ll share an apple with youAnd I’m sure the same you’d do;I’ll tell you my dreams dear friend,We learn to borrow and to lend.

MaltaA HOUSE IN EACH DRAWING

The same our parents don’t earn But it’s not a reason to turnInto an unaccomplished dreamOur friendship and work in team.

I hadn’t yet a Barbie dollAnd never came into a mall;Aged five, your first Walkman you got,Computer games you had a lot.

Fate brought together our ways And sunny are all the spent days;If somebody looks for a whileAt our drawings, he can smile.

In most drawings there’s a house,A cat runs after a mouse,Next to a kennel a dog barks,Maybe it wants to walk in parks.

Well, “house” means for every kidA family we always need;It is our heaven corner,For the strangers it’s a border.

With great efforts you made your name –Fantastic is your way to fame; But use your name for a good deedAnd nicer world will be indeed.

If you were a famous player Or you are a present mayorAnd if a singer once you wereTry to help people anywhere.

The old fans know what you’ve done,That you remain your country’s sonWherever your steps will lead you,The young your advices listen to.

When gold medals you have gotOr you have run when sun was hot,The flag was up, the hymn was heard,Peace message was sent by a bird.

Now you are helping orphan kids,You’re trying to find their needs,Gifts you are offering today,Playgrounds you build every day.

WHAT KIND OF FRIEND ARE YOU?

A real friend is hard to findAnd more sayings come in my mind; You want your friends more things to do,Tell me what kind of friend are you?

Are you ready, when it’s the midnight To answer to a call “all right”,To stay near the bed and feelYour best friend’s pain when he is ill?

Or can you try, for friendship’s sake,The blame upon others to take,Still to give up to your successWhen your best friend’s life is a mess?

Friendship teaches us to share,To be grateful, polite, fair;It can show us we are the bestIt gives us forces for life’s test.

Life is nice with friends around – Gorgeous is this feeling’s sound; So, mankind happier will beWhen everywhere more friends we’ll see.

My parents took me to the park when I was 3 years old. There were lots of children playing games.

They were playing catch. In the park, the children were screaming and laughing with joy.

Some children in the park were riding their bikes. They were doing races with their bikes.

One of them had a bike and the colour was bright like sunflowers! The other one had a BMX and he was doing some tricks.

Some children were playing hide and seek and the children were hiding in different places.
