“HOPE IS THE ANCHOR” Hebrews 6:17-19

From the Principal’s Pen…

Happy Thanksgiving Greetings! The chil-

dren are always asked what they are thankful for in

their lives. The answers are amazing, sometimes

funny, and sometimes surprising. Some children

can pop the answer right out and others really take

time to think about it. How often do we as adults

think about it? As we grow older are we too busy

to think about all we have or do we take it for

granted? I admit to being “too busy” and having

to take a better look at my life and see that I have

more than enough to be happy.

My life is filled with so many things to be

thankful for that I cannot make a list. It would take

me too long and who would really care to read it.

I’ll share a few things...my dear husband Jim, my

sister Sandy and her family, close friends Sue G.

and Susan and Bill, many more friends, my educa-

tion which started at ILS, my 35 years of teaching,

Tigerboy and Fuzzball (our cats), and being back

at ILS with the children, wonderful staff and great

teachers. The most important thing I am thankful

for is my faith in my Savior Jesus Christ. Nothing

tops that!

ILC Sunday School

Sundays at 9:30 am

All school age children from grades K to 5 are welcome and encouraged to at-

tend. During our first Semester we will be exploring the Old Testament. Come

and find out more about Joseph and Moses.

We will all meet at 9:30am in the Kindergarten room where we will have an

introduction to the Bible story and an opening song and prayer. Then we will

split up according to grades for the presentation of the Bible story. Students in grades K-2 will remain

in the Kindergarten room and students in grades 3-5 will go upstairs to another classroom. During this

time the bible story will be presented in a way that is appropriate for each age group. After that, every-

one will join together again in the Kindergarten room to make a craft, and we will end with a song and

a prayer. Parents are then asked to pick up their children from the Kindergarten room at 10:30am.

For students in grades 6-12, we also have a Jr. and Sr. High youth Bible study that takes place in the

Parish Center from 9:30-10:30, and there is a Bible study in the gym for adults during that time as well.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

God’s Blessings to you all!

Warm-A-Child from the Helping Ministry

Immanuel’s Helping Ministry is sponsoring the very popular “Mitten Tree” Christmas giving project. For this holiday season we again are presenting a wonderful way for our church and school community to help some needy children from local public schools, St. Vincent de Paul, Bristol Pre-schools, and from within our own congregation. The Warm-A-Child Christ-mas tree, found by the library, is decorated with paper mittens describing specific clothing requests. If you would please choose a mitten or two, fulfill the request, and place the gift wrapped package (with the mit-ten attached) back under the tree by December 6th, your gift will be very, very appreciated! If anyone has requests for this service, please call MaryAnn at 860-583-2975. We are also sending unwrapped newborn items to the area’s Crisis Pregnancy Center. We hope to fill some boxes with lots of diapers, clothing, and just about anything suitable for an infant. Thank you in advance for your help and support. And...have fun shopping!

COMMUNITY CAROL SING DECEMBER 12TH at 6:30 PM

Meadow Street will be blocked off and we will join together to sing

Christmas Carols on the church steps and in the street and

prepare for a most joyous Christmas Season!

Hot Chocolate, coffee and snacks will be served in the gym following the

Carol Sing.

The word “Advent” actually means

“coming”. This is a season beginning

four Sundays prior to Christmas

which has been used by Christians

throughout the ages to prepare not

only for the Christmas season but for

the promised second coming of our

Savior. It is tradition that an Advent

wreath containing four candles be-

comes part of the holiday decorations

as one prepares for Christmas. There

are three purple or blue candles that

remind us to live in hope. The fourth

candle is pink because on the third

Sunday of Advent the focus is on the

joy we have as Christians in our eager

expectation of Christ’s return. Some-

times a fifth candle is added—this is

the Christ candle which is lit on

Christmas indicating the birth of our

Savior.

If you have any questions, please do

not hesitate to ask any of the teachers.

after this date.

In case of a snow day or bad weather, in which one of these dates is cancelled, a mass email will

be sent by the ski Coordinator, to inform the group that Mount Southington needs to close. A re-

schedule date will be emailed once confirmed.

We will be skiing evenings from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Student’s will need their own transportation

and supervision.

We are also in need a few Chaperones in the event that a student is injured. We are thinking a few

parents who will be supervising their children and/or an adult who will not be skiing. In the event

Dear Immanuel Friends, In addition to our MITE BOX offerings through November 22nd, we will once again be collecting food on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND for the benefit of Zion Meals for the Needy and St. Vincent DePaul. These organizations are in desperate need of our help, and we know you will respond as gen-erously as you have in the past. At this time we also take fresh and frozen turkeys, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Checks or cash may be placed in the MITE BOX, given to Wanda Hubbard, or left in the church office. Finally, we know those frozen turkeys and bags can be heavy! This year our Scout troops will be wait-ing at curbside before each service to help you carry them.

THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU ALL! “A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor” Proverbs 22:9
