    The WINNING PRAYER

Introduction Prayer is one of the greatest assets of the redeemed. It isour communication link with God, our heavenly Father.Unfortunately, however, many are either not takingadvantage of the privilege or they approach it wrongly. No

wonder you hear them say, "I have e hausted prayer, yetthere is no !reakthrough." James 4:2-3 tells us the reasonfor their failure

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye

    ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss...Until you know the meaning of prayer and how to praycorrectly, you will never !e free from pressures.

Prayer is not #ust communication. It is having the correctapproach to communicating with God, !ecause it takes

praying aright to !e heard. $he kingdom of God is a

kingdom of principles. %verything is e pected to !e doneaccording to the guidelines of the &ord, otherwise, it willyield no profit. $hat is why 'esus laid down the right

principles for effectual and winning prayer in Matthew 6 .

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. hy kingdom come. hy

will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. !ive us this day

our daily bread .And forgive us our debts, as we forgiveour debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the

glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

$his is the prototype for effectual prayer( it is a failure) proof prayer guide. &hen you get it right, guesswork stops

and you are assured of answers, even !efore you arethrough with praying.

*ou will never en#oy certain things in life, e cept throughthe proper use of your communication privilege withheaven. 'esus said

For every one that asketh receiveth" and he that seeketh

findeth" and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:8

+ertain doors in life will never open to you, until you properly engage your communication link with God. $hereare many things that are rightfully yours in the covenant(

!ut you may never en#oy them until you ask, seek andknock correctly

    $he -i!le says

O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Psalm 65:2

Prayer re uires no other treatment in heaven than answers.God has no record !ook for prayers, neither does /e have astoreroom for them. $hey are either answered or returned to

sender. $hat is the reason many have never receivedanswers to their prayers. -ut from now on, I see you usethe miracle prayer guide, so that every time you stand

!efore God in prayer, you will always receive answers.

Prayer is the !reath of the regenerated spirit. 'ust like everystrong relationship thrives on the maintenance of a verygood communication link !etween the parties involved,

prayer not only serves as a means of getting God tointervene in our affairs, it enhances the strength of ourrelationship with /im, since it is one of the ways wefellowship with /im.

Prayer is not optional for the !eliever !ecause it is one ofour vital covenant responsi!ilities. $hat is why the &ord ofGod admonishes that we pray always.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that menought always to pray, and not to faint"

    Luke 18:1

    #ray without ceasing.1 Thessalonians 5:17

&hen your soul is genuinely revived, prayer !ecomes yourGod)given privilege, that you cannot afford to a!use, !utmake the utmost use of. It naturally !ecomes a part of yourlife, !ecause your spirit has !een attuned to crave

communication with God, as a new !orn !a!e craves formilk.

&hen the first +hurch was !orn, the apostles said

$ut we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to theministry of the word.

    A ts 6:4

$hat was how they were a!le to sustain the fire in theirdays. &henever they prayed, there were undenia!le proofsthat they touched heaven 01cts 2 34)45(56 37)368

&hen your prayer life !egins to drag, it shows that yourspirit)man is already drooping and that means you aregetting farther and farther away from God. +onsistenteffectual prayer is the way to maintain a high)flying+hristian life.

$here is more to prayer than #ust praying. In my early+hristian days, we all were praying !ecause we saw others

praying. No one was mindful of results, so we continued totarry until many got tired, and some eventually retired. It istherefore very important that we know what !enefits prayer holds for us as !elievers, and how to use them to ourutmost advantage, so as to en#oy a victorious +hristian life.

&hat is the use of calling a num!er on the phone and notgetting through and then giving your message to the !lank phone waves9 It:s nothing !ut wasted efforts 1 veryreligious man, rather than drop the handset when he can:tget through, will still go on to say, "$hough I know you arenot picking the phone, I am going to say everything I have

  • 8/9/2019 The Winning Prayer

    5/138

to say anyway, !ecause I know you will hear me someday."

$hat is e actly what we do when we don:t apply the correct prayer principles. $hat way, you meet people who claim tohave prayed for 53, 4; or 2; days, yet they have no resultsto show. 'esus didn:t announce /imself when /e returnedfrom /is 2; days fast( the effect of /is prayer and fastingwas evident all through /is lifetime on earth. &hen edemption gives us all e ual access to God:s hotline, !utmany are missing out of it !ecause of their lack ofunderstanding. $hey don:t know how to approach it. Chapter 1

The Force Of PrayerPrayer is a force in the hand of the !eliever whenapproached =cripturally. It is one of God:s covenant toolsfor the reali?ation of our glorious destinies in +hrist.

    'esus told /is disciples a para!le in %atthew &':()*(+

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, hekingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed

    good seed in his field:

$ut while men slept, his enemy came and sowed taresamong the wheat, and went his way.

$ut when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

o the servants of the householder came and said unto him,ir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field- from whence

    then hath it tares-

He said unto them, An enemy hath done this...

%verything contrary to good in the life of the !eliever is the

work of the enemy. $he devil is the !eliever:s num!er oneenemy, and the -i!le warns us against him

$e sober, be vigilant" because your adversary the devil, asa roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may

    devour:1 Pete! 5:8

=o, !ehind that set!ack, that unending struggle and thosecontinuous !reakdowns is "an enemy". -ut why is he sodetermined and hell)!ent on seeing you fail9 @ook at whatthe -i!le says concerning you in "saiah 5:1-2:

ow will / sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. %y wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a

    very fruitful hill:

And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the

midst of it, and also made a winepress therein...

$his is why the enemy is interested in you /e is #ealous ofyou, !ecause you are God:s choicest vine. -y redemptionthrough the !lood of 'esus, you are planted on a most

fruitful hill. Not only that, you are fenced and protected.God has invested /is !est in you. $he -i!le also tells us in Psalm 92:13-14

hose that be planted in the house of the 0ord shall flourish in the courts of our !od. hey shall still bring forth fruit in old age" they shall be fat and flourishing"

No wonder the enemy is so #ealous /e wants you downlike himself. 'ust like he did not rest until he got 1dam outof the garden of %den, he has vowed not to rest until he getsyou off the course of your destiny. /e is determined to seeyou don:t enter your +anaan, !ut he will not succeed, in'esus: name

ubmit yourselves therefore to !od. 1esist the devil, and hewill flee from you.

    James 4:7

$he devil can !e stopped and arrested. =ince force is theonly language he understands, God has placed the force of

prayer in our hands, to put him where he !elongs.

    Arise!

It takes knowledge to have victory in any conflict of life.$he first thing you need to know in the war against the thief of your glorious destiny is that you must arise.

0et !od arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them alsothat hate him flee before him.

    Psalm 68:1

If the enemies will not scatter until God arises, how then doyou think they will scatter in your case without you arising9*ou can:t keep watching that unpleasant situation in yourlife go on( you must arise No matter how great therevelations you have received from God, if you don:t !uildup a resistance against the enemy, you will never have a

    !reakthrough

God has spoken some things to you and you are sure of /is

leading and instructions, !ut the enemy is standing on theway, saying, "*ou won:t get in there." *ou need to arise tothe challenge, !ecause if you do nothing, you will getnothing. If you fold your hands at the opposition, you willend up in stagnation and deprivation.

people at our meetings, and they were my staff. Cne day, Icalled the men together and told them, "$his is not the way

things should !e, so let:s rise up to the challenge."&e set out in prayers for three days. Cn the third day, the@ord said to me, "

    Chapter What Prayer oes

Prayer has diverse !enefits for the !eliever. 1s the issuesand circumstances of life vary, so also does prayer addressthe various needs of man.

#raying always with all prayer and supplication in thepirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and

45cept the 0ord build the house, they labour in vain that

build it: e5cept the 0ord keep the city, the watchmanwaketh but in vain. Psalm 127:1

%very !lessing and accomplishment in life comes as aresult of the helps of God. Paul said in A ts 26:22

Having therefore obtained help of !od, / continue unto this

day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and %oses did say should come:

/e was preaching the same message as other apostles in histime, !ut he got !etter results !ecause he had the help ofGod. $he Psalmist, though a great man of war who neverlost a !attle, knew this secret. In Psalm 6#:11-12 , he

prayed!ive us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.hrough !od we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall

    tread down our enemies.

And he sought !od in the days of 8echariah, who had understanding in the visions of !od: and as long as he
