Financial advisers understand an important concept they call “diver-sification.” The term describes investing in a wide variety of stocks rather than focusing on one or two. It is the opposite of having “all eggs in one basket.” Diversification means balancing one’s invest-ments in a variety of things like stocks, bonds, real estate or currency. An example might be a “mutual fund,”with a hundreds of holdings. A dollar invested is spread among all the holdings of the “mutual fund.”

“Investing” in a large number of missionaries is a wise and prudent use of the resources God has put in your trust. Missionaries utilize a variety of soul-winning methods, take the gospel to different cultures, live in various nations and preach in many languages. When Christians “diversify” their resources by equip-ping missionaries in multiple nations, cultures and languages they share in the remarkable growth of God’s kingdom. Every dollar contributed to The White Rock Fund is spread among the work of every missionary!

For over 20 years, grants from The White Rock Fund have been given to Churches of Christ so missionaries all over the world will be able to serve our Lord. Gospel preachers must be faithful to the Scriptures and faithful in living what they preach. Fundamental teachings of the Bible remain the same everywhere . How-ever, the conditions of the soil are not always the same in every place; some methods of evangelism are more effective than others. Like Jeremiah, missionaries benefiting from these grants have a “fire in their bones!”

ETHIOPIA & SOUTH SUDAN

Literally hundreds are being baptized into Christ every year in Ethiopia. Tyrone Mynhier (far right) preaches in the South Sudanese refugee camps of Ethiopia and villages in South Sudan.

Goals for 2019 include:

Graduate 40 to 50 students enrolled in Gambella/Sunset International Bible InstituteTeach 3,500 Sudanese Refugee children in Vacation Bible School

Continue to mature the brethrenStart 10 or more new congregations

Have 500 baptisms (Over 300 were baptized in 2018)Plant 25 acres of corn to feed Christians

Of the 45 graduates of the Bible Institute several are continuing their education at Ethiopian universities, but most are work-ing as full-time preachers.

The White Rock Fund provides a grant for Tyrone Mynhier’s work sponsored by the Church of Christ in Porter, Texas.

REACHING MUSLIM REFUGEES IN AUSTRIA

Gerhard Krassnig preaches in Austria, Poland, Germany and other European na-tions. An engineer, a graduate of Sunset International Bible Institute. and an Aus-trian by birth, Gerhard is an active evangelist with a servant’s heart. He wants to strengthen existing congregations and plant new churches, especially among refugees from the Middle East and Africa. Refugees come from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghani-stan, Somalia, Nigeria, Liberia, Sudan, and Cameroon. Every Sunday he speaks at Farsi-speaking refugee congregations in Vienna (Persian), Salzburg (Afghanian) and Traiskirchen (both Persian and Afghanian). It is not unusual for there to be 14 different nationalities present for worship! Many of the refugees are impressed by the way Christians show kindness and love. They realize that what they had been told about Christians is completely untrue!

In 2018 over 100 Muslims were baptized into Christ. More have become Christians this year. Soon two additional Farsi-speaking congregations will be planted in other locations. Some of the brothers are being trained to preach.

An American Christian in Vienna, recently wrote: “What a glorious afternoon the Lord granted us at the refugee camp at Traiskirchen today! We met refugees who had fled from the Gaza Strip and Pakistan under very perilous circumstances, as well as from Somalia, and Syria. Quite a few more had fled from Afghanistan and Iran. Among those are Hamid and his son Yassir from Iran. They helped us set up the table to start distributing food, Bibles, clothing, and hygienic articles.”

The White Rock Fund is providing a grant to the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas for Gerhard’s support.

Gerhard says: “I look forward to a partnership with The White Rock Fund that will glorify our Father in heaven and bring joy to all of us, as we watch God work among Muslims in Austria and beyond.”

The most needy mission field for Churches of Christ in the United States is the northeastern states. It is estimated that one-fifth of all the people who live in America live in these states! Yet, there are fewer congregations per capita than anywhere else in the nation. There are fewer members; fewer preachers. The opportunities for evangelism are great! According to Wikipedia.org “The region includes nine states: Maine, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.”

FRENCH WORLD MISSIONS

I am happy to send a report on what has been accomplished with the funds The White Rock Fund generously supplies. Part of this money is given so we may produce and ship printed teaching materials to be used by brethren in various French-speak-ing countries in their efforts to evangelize and ground brethren in the Truth. The rest helps pay for airtime for gospel radio broadcasts in the countries of Chad, Guinea, the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The following amounts of literature were sent to each of these 15 French-speaking countries:

Materials include tracts and brochures, study books, New Testaments, songbooks and Bible correspondence courses. They are used in many ways, reinforcing teaching given in person and going where teachers have not yet been able to go.

The radio broadcast in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo has been an important part to establish the Lord’s church in that large city. The tiny congregation has put up a meeting place, made progress on obtaining government authorization and held campaigns to begin the church in a city a couple of hours away. They had 7 baptisms in 2018. The radio program in Pala, Chad prompts about 10 calls from listeners after each weekly broadcast. In 2018 this work saw 6 individuals put on Christ in baptism. The brethren in the Democratic Republic of the Congo translate our lessons into the local language so that it is heard in both French and Lingala. This has greatly increased the number of listeners and calls received. The broadcast in Conakry, Guinea, also continues to expose over 2 million Muslims to the gospel of Christ.

EVANGELISTIC FOCUS INCASTLETON, VERMONT BEARS FRUIT!

Evangelism in Rutland County Vermont is going well and the harvest is the result of God working our fields. No harvest can occur without seed planting. That planting comes from the work of individuals within the community of Christ, and “Christ for Today”— a direct mail publication reaching those who are seeking to know the truth of God’s word. According to Kirk Israel, minister of the Green Mountain Church of Christ in Castleton, “We sow through a variety of means, sometimes we cast broadly, at other times we row crop. “Christ for Today” is one of those very important ways in which we sow broadly. Often the word of God would not enter a home without this method of seed planting.

In recent months three people have been baptized into Christ as a result of receiving “Christ for Today” in their mail box, and follow up studies with Kirk and Karen.
