Land Forms- Rocky Mountains, Great Basin, Mt. Rainer, Mt. McKinley, Mt, Hood, and Great Plains.

Natural Resources- Fishing, Mining, and Farming

Relative Location-The West is to the West of the Midwest. It is the farthest west region in the U.S.

Latitude and Longitude of L.A- 34◦ N and 118◦ W

People choose to live in the West because of the job offers and the climate.

Religions are Christian, Jewish, Lutheran, and has about the same religions as other places in the United States.

The four top ethnic groups in the West are Mexican, German, English, and Irish.

The major resources are fishing, mining, and farming. The major landforms are the Rocky Mountains, Great

Basin, Mt. Rainer, Mt. McKinley, Mt. Hood, and Great Plains. The weather differs between and cold depending on which

state. In California and Hawaii they have the warmest July temperature of 75 degrees F. Alaska has the coldest January of 5 degrees F.

The yearly precipitation for the West region is about 32 in. a year. It includes snowfall and rainfall.

Climate can be a big effect depending an which state you are in. Alaska might not have as many people as Hawaii depending if someone wants a warmer state.

Economic issues for the West are the un-employment rate is 11.1% and the salary is going up about 0.4%.

Climate affected the settlement of the region is that some people want to live in a warmer climate and not have all of the seasons or live in a colder place with not all the seasons. If people want four seasons they could live in Washington or California.

Pollution could affect the ocean and then the fish would die. Fishing is one of the main resources in the West so if the didn’t have fish then people could lose their jobs and then go homeless.

People choose to live in the West because of the climate, jobs, oceans, and has many different kinds of cities.

Good are transported by highways, rivers, airports, and railways.

The West has the TRICARE service centers, which is a health care in the West.

If one of the major transportations got shut down it would be bad because if it was a highway then no one could really get around but, if it was a river then they could use the train or the highway.

Major tourist attractions are The Bay Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Hoover Dam, Hollywood, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountains.

More unique characteristics are that one of the first missions is in the West. They also have Crater Lake, Glacier Bay, and Idaho Falls. Some people go to the West for beauty.

The West helps the economy because they are good for fishing and mining.
