Welcome! Freedom Church is made up of ordinary people who have come to know Jesus in a personal way

As leaders, we believe the Church has a unique and specific purpose to fulfil at this time. Freedom Church is therefore totally committed to being relevant as we aim to serve God and our community.

I am so excited to be part of a Church where people have a shared vision to make a difference, both locally and globally.

This publication shows our vision for the future. We hope that as individuals you will connect with us on this amazing journey as we follow where God is leading!

So who are we?Freedom Church was born out of the realisation that two vibrant and growing Churches (Abundant Life Church and Jersey Community Church) both shared a passionate common vision of how the Church could serve the local community, whilst reaching them with the good news of God’s grace and love towards them.

Both Churches had large numbers of young families and children, and a wide age range of members; both believed they would better achieve their vision by sharing their combined resources, energy and expertise.

We celebrated the launch of Freedom Church on Liberation Weekend 2009.

Our first six years as Freedom Church has been an exciting journey. We have been very busy laying firm foundations and also unfolding our vision and goals for the years ahead.

You will see from reading this booklet that we are in an exciting and challenging phase, as we have recently acquired a large facility, to be called Freedom Centre, which will enable Freedom Church to further serve the community of Jersey.

Our desire is to be a‘A Church For This Time’,seeking to be Relevant,Real, Relational and Ready to pursue God’s purpose with Relentless commitment.John Stewart-Jones

(Senior Pastor/Chairman)

Weekly Senior Leadership meetings and bi-monthly board meetings enable the Leadership to make decisions about the many areas of life at Freedom Church. They pray together on a regular basis as they lead the Church.

At the heart of Freedom Church are key individuals, who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of all Church areas. There are also numerous others who give valuable time towards the running of Freedom Church to whom we are most grateful.

John is Senior Pastor and along with Tim and Andrew as Pastors, together with their wives, they complete the Senior Leadership Team.

To build a large growing Church, made up of small groups, meeting in a central main building and having major impact locally and globallyTo value the word of God and the presence of His Holy Spirit working in us

We aim to be - Relevant A worshipping Church, living out a life of worship, which is expressed as we gather together in a vibrant, exciting and relevant way.

Relevant and culture forming, so that the Island of Jersey is transformed by Christian influence, including the caring professions, the media, politics, sports, education and the business world.

Our vision encompasses being‘A Church For This Time’

A Church that’s Relevant, Real, Relational and Ready to pursue God’s purpose with Relentless commitment

Aiming to be - Real A Church with real people, living in a real world, dealing with real problems and understanding the reality of God’s grace and enabling.

Relational Relational and welcoming, providing a sense of belonging and care, where people are encouraged to grow. Loving towards God and people, serving others and sharing this love in practical ways. A Church that relates to other Christian Churches in Jersey and elsewhere, in our shared common purpose of bringing in God’s Kingdom.

We value people, and the building of loving relationships with one another

We aim for excellence in all that we do

And also to be - Ready Made up of people who are taught, encouraged, equipped and ready to reach their full potential in all areas of their lives. Responsive and eager to fulfil God’s call and purpose.

Relentless A Church made up of people changed and empowered by the Holy Spirit, having faith in God and a wholehearted and relentless commitment to Jesus Christ. A people persistent in prayer to see God’s purposes fulfilled through His Church.

Freedom Centre

A Venture of Faith in ProgressWe believe that the former Odeon cinema building, renamed Freedom Centre, will provide us with an excellent facility in the heart of St Helier, which will enable us to make a significant impact in serving our island community.

Freedom Centre will provide us with an amazing building resource that would be used for all aspects of church life and also for interaction with the wider community throughout the week. We are in a venture of faith for the financial provision of the remainder of the purchase price and also for the cost of the refurbishment and development of Freedom Centre into a ‘state of the art’ facility. We believe that God will make this provision possible and that you and our fellow

members at Freedom will be able to help us realise our vision.

We are exploring the different areas of possible financial support that may become available to us. We believe that finance will become available through specific giving towards the project, through those who are already a part of Freedom, as well as through a wide variety of other means.

A more detailed document of how you are able to contribute is available, so please ask for a copy. Please pray and ask God whether you are able to contribute financially or whether you have any suggestions that

you could put forward which we might be able to prayerfully consider, as we are also seeking financial support beyond Freedom Church.

Any giving towards the Freedom project will need to be in addition to the regular giving of our tithes, so that the ongoing financial obligations and commitments of Freedom continue to be met, enabling us to reach the exciting goals that God has called us into, that have been outlined in this booklet.

We are so excited by and also challenged by this venture of faith!

Freedom Media launched in August 2011This is a really exciting business venture - it’s a corporate entity, winning business in the corporate world, but there is one distinct difference. All profits generated by Freedom Media go directly back into community projects that Freedom Church support.

The Freedom Media Team are all experts in their fields, who are passionate about designing, making films and creating websites. In the first few months of operation, they worked with some high profile clients including the Chief Minister, Ian Gorst’s senatorial election campaign, the States Of Jersey Police, Jersey Telecom, the Biarritz Hotel, Business Connect, and 2buy2.

Paul Milbank, Business Connect“Freedom Media provided solutions that went way beyond my expectations. Not only was the result way better than I had hoped for, their personalised and enthusiastic approach made the whole process hassle free, unintimidating and exciting.”

Carol Saunders-Long, Statesof Jersey Police“Freedom Media’s work on the States of Jersey Police video project was of a very high standard. The team at Freedom Media was extremely professional and helpful, meeting our challenging demands to deadline, and offering valuable advice along the way.”

Russel Stables, Director - 2buy2“From initial web design through to implementation, Freedom Media have provided a quality service and ensured we felt valued as a customer.”

Freedom Media has also responded to requests from their clients to handle their social media requirements. Social Networking is no longer just something between friends, its value is also seen in the business sector. Everyone is tweeting

or posting on Facebook - companies don’t want to miss out on this marketing opportunity.

Hannah Shellswell, Creative Director “No matter what job we do or how old we are, we are all more media savvy than ever and we choose to communicate and connect with one another in a wide variety of ways. Businesses know that they must do the same to ensure they market their message effectively. Freedom Media offers a wide range of services to help make this happen and we are enjoying working with companies to reach their clients and customers through video, print, websites and social media.“
