The Civil Rights MovementPeople across America decided to get together and stop discrimination against African Americans. Before the Civil Rights Movement, African Americans and white people were segregated or separated into different groups. Different races attended difference schools. One influential person involved in the Civil Rights Movement was Rosa Parks. One day, Rosa Parks was on the bus going home from work when she refused to give up her seat to a white man. She was arrested and thrown in jail.

Martin Luther King Jr. Graduated High School at the age of 15 and went on to college and received his Doctorate degree. After college, he became a pastor in Montgomery, Alabama. He wanted people to peacefully protest against discrimination and be able to have conversations about the topic.
