Fact # 3 : On August 24, 1814 British captured and burned Washington D.C. The British arrived in D.C. to burn the white house because of the American attack on the city of York Ontario, Canada.

On August 25, 1814 a drenching thunderstorm extinguished the flames that were burning buildings. There was also a tornado that killed more British soldiers than American guns did during their brief occupation of the nations capital.

Fact # 4(Most Important): On December 24, 1815 the Americans and British met in Belgium to sign The Treaty of Ghent. I think this is the most important fact because this is what practically ended the War of 1812 but it was not confirmed until February 1815. Since it wasn’t confirmed yet small battles still went on.
