Transcript of THE WAPITI -...
Dear Fellow Elks,
The season is upon us and as Elks we should all be in the mood to give. Our annual Toy Drive
is under way along with our Food Drive. Please be generous and let’s show the community
that Elks Care and Elks Share.
Several of us attended the Mid-Year Convention last month and heard all the reports from the
state committee chairs. It is truly amazing to hear all the good works we as Elks can accom-
plish.
The total donation to Harry Anna, including the Youth Camp and Children’s therapy was $327,968.55 for the
period ending 10/31/15. That’s a lot but the figure is down over 11% from last year. Please, if you haven’t
made a Harry Anna contribution yet this year, do it now. The Elks National Fund is up over last year largely
due to bequests. The Youth Camp and Children’s Therapy reports were absolutely fantastic. What we do for
kids is something to be extremely proud of. We were informed that our Camperships for next year will in-
crease from 4 to 6. So if you know of a kid that would benefit from going to camp next summer, please let the
Lodge Secretary know.
Coming up on Sunday 12/6 is Elks Memorial Day. This is the Service where we honor all members who have
passed during the year. The Service will start at 11 am, please plan to attend.
I want to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season. Please watch the mirror and your e-mail for
details about all the upcoming events. If you are not getting e-mail, send a request to [email protected]
Fraternally,

AMERICANISM
December is upon us and as usual it is a
busy month for our lodge. On December 5th,
Elroy the elk and myself as Santa will be
guests at the Christmas Breakfast with San-
ta at Delray Medical Center. Thanks to Lin-
da and Donna, the kids loved Elroy last year.
On Sunday December 6th we will have our
Elks Memorial Day. Check our Exalted Rul-
ers column and calendar for time of service.
Make plans to attend and honor our de-
ceased members. On December 7th we re-
member, and we must remember because it
seems that American History is not being
remembered. Pearl Harbor and those that
lost their lives that day and marked the be-
ginning of World War II. Let us never forget.
On a happier note my wife, Joyce and I, wish
all our Jewish members and friends a Happy
Hanukkah and to all a very Merry Christ-
mas and a happy, fun and safe New Year.
Richie Dunne, Esteemed Loyal Knight
Americanism Chairman
State President's Message
The Holiday Season of Giving
Leaving November behind, I want to take a moment to once again thank all of
our veterans and to remind everyone of our pledge: “So long as there are Veter-
ans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” Dolly
and I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and found the time to recall your
blessings and express your thanks for all of them.
December is a month of multicultural holiday celebrations. Whether you cele-
brate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Three Kings Day, St. Lucia Day or Box-
ing Day, I hope you celebrate it in style with friends and family.
December is the greatest month of giving, gifts to children and grandchildren
and gifts to our favorite charities. How much and to whom are highly personal
decisions, often influenced by financial circumstances, life experiences or per-
sonal connections to a particular cause. As Elks, we are committed to the Harry-
Anna Trust Fund and its two major projects that benefit the children of Florida:
Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services and Florida Elks Youth Camp.
We have developed an easier system to connect your spirit of giving and the
Elk’s commitment to our Florida children and I am reaching out now for your
support.
Do you shop on Amazon? Do you know that Amazon donates 0.5% of purchases
to charities? It does not cost you a thing and only requires one small change in
the way you shop at Amazon. Instead of shopping at amazon.com, shop at
smile.amazon.com, same username, same password. You only need to choose
your charity once. This small change is an opportunity to easily get more money
flowing into our charity account. Go to: www.smile.amazon.com
Sign into your Amazon account. Select the Florida Elks Charities as your chari-
ty and 0.5% of your purchases will accumulate and be transferred into the es-
tablished FEC bank account.
Of course, there are other ways give:
Make a donation to HATF through Rachael King at [email protected] and
she will mail you a Harry Anna Trust Fund pin that you can mate with my
State President pin.
Purchase a Harry-Anna Trust Fund certificate with a one-time or memorial
donation:
$50.00 State President HATF pin
$100.00 Bronze Pin $500.00 Silver Pin
$1,000.00 Gold Pin $5,000.00 Your name on FSEA Donor Wall
Participate through the FSEA Wills and Bequests, Planned Giving Program via
the Florida Elks Charitable Trust. You can leave a permanent legacy during
your lifetime:
Gift from your Will or Trust, Gift from your Retirement Plan, Gift of Stock and
Appreciated Assets, Gift of Life Insurance, Gift of Real Estate, Gift of Personal
Property

DROVE #173 Boca Raton, FL
Dear Sister and Brother Does and Elks,
We had a fantastic time at the wine tasting party on November 14. Thanks go out to all who planned, worked, got
this together and attended. Big thanks to co-hosts Corinne, Judy and Shirley. A lot of work goes into putting this
together. This is the first time we tried this, so we learned a lot. Thanks to all Does bringing great finger food. Joanie Water from Pom-
pano Does. Several Elks are enthusiastically in favor of having another party very soon. We hope the tables looked like it was a fancy
joint. No paper or plastic cups for our gourmet wine. Did anyone find a new wine you liked? Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
We only have one meeting in December, on the 8. We’ll be busy. There will be the cookie jar and homemade cookies raffle. Wait till you
see the jar. If no one wants to keep it, I do. It is BEAUTIFUL and seasonal. We’ll be having the Does Christmas party. Call Kita @ 954-
573-3535, so she and Kit can coordinate the food. $10 gift exchange is optional. Don't forget the Elks toy drive. It is amazing how much
is collected every year.
We may have luncheon at the lodge on the 18th if enough are signed up. Call Judy @ 954-461-7909. All are invited.
Pot luck has been canceled for December.
