What is the Wallet Card Video?

The Wallet Card Video is a free tool that explains when and how to use the wallet card. It shows three different scenarios where the Wallet Card brings clarity to interactions between people with ASD and law enforcement.

Our video is hosted by Lieutenant Bart Barta from the Coral Gables Police Department and Haley Moss, a young woman on the autism spectrum.

The Four Most Important Messages! 1) Police and first responders might not know that you have a disability.

2) As soon as possible, tell the officer that you have a disability and ask if you can show him your wallet card.

3) Keep your hands out in front of you so that the officer can see them. Do not put your hands in your pocket, behind your back, or in your bag or purse.

4) Please face the officer when he is talking to you. Do not turn your back to the officer unless he tells you to do so.

How can I watch the Wallet Card Video?

Just go to DIG’s website, www.justdigit.org, or the City of Coral Gables’ website, www.coralgables.com, under the Police Department section and click the button that says “Wallet Card”.

Is closed-captioning available on the video?

Yes! Just hit the “cc” button on the video player to enable closed captioning.

How do I get my own Wallet Card?

Just go to the website, www.justdigit.org, and click the blue button that says “Wallet Card”. You will need to submit your name, email address, mailing address, and the name and phone number for your emergency contact.

The wallet card is free!

You should receive the Wallet Card within a week of your request.
