What is WWEMA?
• Non-profit 501(c)(6) trade organization founded in 1908
• Leading organization representing the interests of companies that manufacture and supply products to the potable water and wastewater treatment industries.
• Headquartered in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
• Provides full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members.
Mission
To inform, educate and provide leadership on the issues that shape the future of the water
and wastewater industry.
Objective
To influence the industry, educate the public and train the end users as the respected voice for
the wastewater equipment manufacturers globally.
Strategic Intent
To represent our members’ interests insupport of their businesses by:
influencing government regulations advocating good business practices offering education services to increase the economic viability
of our member companies
Be the primary voice for the water and wastewater equipment manufacturers
and their associates before government agencies at all levels on issues both
domestic and international

Advance sound, scientific-based water-related standards embracing today’s technologies
Advocate fair trade practices and eliminate barriers to trade
Defend against restrictive federal and state policies affecting commerce
Promote the acceptance and embracing of innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies by regulators and users
Encourage full-cost-of-service rates and other sustainable water infrastructure financing mechanisms, including state revolving funds and private activity bonds
Develop and strengthen working alliances with other organizations within the industry, to further common objectives and protect the members’ interests, throughformal Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs)
Promote Value-Based ProcurementValue means more than just lowest purchase price. It is the lowest total cost of ownership.
To ensure wise investment, the assumption that the lowest price automatically equals the best deal must be challenged.
Publish timely newsletters on federal and state initiatives, international trade, and industry developments
Conduct Washington Forum to provide access to key lawmakers and insights into future rules and regulations driving demand for members’ products & services
Conduct Annual Meeting to facilitate networking among industry leaders and explore business trends and market opportunities
Maintain Export Trade Certificate to provide anti-trust protection to members engaged in joint export activities
Publish articles in industry trade journals to educate others on issues of importance to equipment manufacturers
Advance more equitable contract terms and conditions for use by the industry through participation on the Engineers Joint Contracts Documents Committee
Establish Councils to encourage shared learning among member CEOs, financial and contract administrators, and sales managers
Conduct annual Market Indicator Surveys to track sales and forecast demand
