The VIN Locations

For products like motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, snowmobiles, and Side-by-Side vehicles vehicles, each unit has a 17-digit

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

For WaveRunner watercraft and Yamaha Boats, there is a separate Primary ID number stamped into a plate on the unit. It is

separate from the Hull Identification Number. Generators also use a Primary ID number on a plate for identification.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Locations on Motorcycles, Scooters, ATVs, Side-by-Sides,and Snowmobiles

• Motorcycle – Stamped into the steering stem of the frame, viewable by turning the handlebars.

• Scooter – Usually on the frame in front of the apron or stamped into the frame downtube behind the panel in the foot well area.

• ATV – Stamped into the frame on the left side, under the footrest.

• Side-by-Side – Stamped into the left rear frame section.

• Snowmobile – Stamped into the tunnel (frame) on the right side.

Primary ID and HIN Locations on WaterCraft

• WaveRunner Personal Watercraft – The Primary ID number is stamped on a plate located inside the engine compartment on

the left side. The Hull Identification Number (HlN) is a 12-digit number stamped on a plate attached to the aft deck.

• Boat – The Primary ID number is stamped on a label attached to the deck under the rear seat. The Hull Identification Number

(HlN) is a 12-digit number stamped into the hull on the starboard side of the stern.

Primary ID on Power Products and Multi-Purpose Engines (MPE)• Generator – Stamped on the plate on the housing of the generator case or on the frame plate.
