The Safety Professional

A safety professional is one who applies the expertise gained from: • a study of safety science, principles, and other subjects;

• professional safety experience to create or develop procedures, processes, standards, specifications, and systems

• to achieve optimal control or reduction of the hazards and exposures that may harm people, property or the environment.

The Certified Safety Professional

A Certified Safety Professional® (CSP) is a safety professional who has met and continues to meet the criteria established by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and is authorized by the BCSP to use the Certified Safety Professional® title and the CSP credential.

Salary Survey 2018

• Joint effort led by BCSP and American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP)

• 10,282 responses

• Median annual base salary: $97,000

Findings:

• Certified SH&E professionals typically earn $20,000 MORE per year than those with no licenses or certifications

• CSP is higher: $30,000 more per year*
