Smart Boards

What is a Smart Board? A Smart Board is the first

interactive white board (SMART Technologies ULC, 2010).

Using this technology engages students in a teacher’s lesson.

A smart board works with a computer and projector. There are many games and software programs that work with the smart board in the educational setting.

Activities to do with a Smart BoardIt can be used as a form of taking

the attendance. Teach student to interact with the boards’ motion sensor, allowing students will use their finger to drag their name from the “At Home” column shown on the board to the “Present” column, to show they are present at school that day

Document Cameras

What is a Document Camera?Document cameras replaced the

overhead projector. It allows the teacher to project

what he or she is doing at their desk or on a table onto a screen or smart board for a large group to see.

Images show up in color, instead of the shadow black of an overhead projector.

Activities to do with a Document CameraEnlarge a read-aloud book to the

class.Used for demonstrations to show

students how to do assigned work.

A teacher can freeze-frame the camera for various teaching purposes. Worksheets can be frozen, work out answers on sheet, unfreeze, and show final answers

Digital Cameras

What does it mean “Digital” CameraIt is easy to use like a regular film

camera, without the mess and time of developing film.

Pictures can be easily downloaded to your computer and integrated into classroom activities.

Ways to use a Digital Camera in the ClassroomShow pictures to demonstrate

how to participate in centers and math and literacy stations. For example, sequence of photos in each center to teach students how to use manipulatives and what the station will look like when it is cleaned up

Computers

How can I use computers in the classroom?Computers can be used in a lab setting

or in the student’s classroom.Many school district have purchased

educational programs and have loaded them on the machines for student enrichment activities.
