18th century• the Boston Tea Party in 1773 – to protest against the new tax on tea

• G. Washington -> the 1st President of the United States (1789)• Washington DC

19th century• The California Gold Rush – 1848 => roads, churches, schools and other towns were built all around California• 1812 – war with Britain• the Civil War (1861 – 1865): the industrial North X the agrarian South• Abraham Lincoln was assassinated just as the war endedslavery = otroctvíabolished = zrušeno

20th century• one of the most dominant powers• participated in both world wars• 1945 -> A-bombs on Japan• 1947 -> began The Cold War• now The USA is the federal republic consisting of 50 states
