The release of the highly-respected 2010 Jiao Tong rankings has seen UOW manintain its position as one of the world’s top 2 per cent of research universities. UOW ranks in the 300-400 band.

QS World University Rankings confirm UOW’s leading status placing it at 267 in 2010.

Employers Rank UOW Top 100 in the World – For the second year in a row, UOW has been ranked in the top 100 universities in the world by the Times Higher Education Employer Review (2008). This review rates employers’ opinions of UOW graduates.

In 2004 a near complete skeleton of the hobbit was discovered, on the island of Flores.

Represents a new species of minature humans, that coexisted with homo-sapiens

The Centre for Archaeological Science played a lead role in the discovery and dating of the Hobbit.
