The University of Tennessee, Knoxville launched a strategic planning initiative known as Vol Vision in 2011, which included new mission and vision statements reflecting pursuit of becoming a “Top 25” public research university. Vol Vision 2020, a refresh of the 2011 plan, was presented to the Academic Affairs and Student Success Committee on April 1, 2016. On the committee’s recommendation, the Board of Trustees approved the following Resolution on April 1, 2016:
RESOLVED: The proposed update of Vol Vision 2020 is approved as the vision for The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with the condition that the administration bring to the Board of Trustees a strategic plan to achieve that vision by the next meeting, if feasible, and if not feasible, that the administration report at the next meeting on progress toward developing the strategic plan.
Chancellor Jimmy Cheek will present a Strategic Plan Summary, as well as a Full Implementation Plan for Vol Vision 2020.
MOTION: I move that the Academic Affairs and Student Success Committee recommend adoption of the following Resolution by the Board of Trustees:
RESOLVED: The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Strategic Plan known as Vol Vision 2020 is approved as presented.
