The Chalk-Box Project

Drop off anytime Monday-Friday, November 4th-8th, 2013 8:00am-4:00pm in Tate Room 102B.

This service project is a way for UGA students to promote creativity, fine arts, and fun to young

children in the Athens community! The “chalk-boxes” can be made using boxes we will provide

to you. Paint the outside of the box with bright colors and the lid with chalkboard paint. The

inside of the box can be painted or left in its original condition. Place several pieces of colored

chalk and a sponge in the box; other arts supplies should also be included. In order to inspire

creativity and fun leave a special note inside the box for a child to read, describing what is in the

box and what fun things they can do with their new art supplies.

1. Boxes can be picked up at Tate 102B Monday November 4th through Thursday

November 7th.

2. There will be a designated drop-off location for the chalk-boxes at Tate 102B.

3. If a participant is contributing a chalk-box, his or her name must be given along

with the participating organization if applicable. Please do not write your name

directly on the box, add an additional piece paper with your name and

organization inside the box.

4. Participants will be required to provide chalk paint and supplies going inside the

box for children.

5. Spirit points will be given if the name and/or organization name are legibly

written with the donation (no acronyms).

6. The chalk-boxes donated will be distributed to community youth programs.

22

Coins for the Court

Monday-Friday, November 4th-8th. At each Homecoming event

1. Each member of the Homecoming Court will choose a charity as the recipient of coin

donations should he or she win. Participants can donate money to a specific Court

member who will be representing their favorite charity.

2. The Court member with the most donations will donate the money raised from all Court

members to the charity of their choice.

Surf & Serve

Monday-Wednesday, November 4th-6th, 2013 11:00am-2:00pm. Tate Plaza

Service Ambassadors

1. Students can stop by tables located on Tate Plaza to participate in short, mini-service projects.

This program is designed to allow students to engage in service for a few minutes as they are

passing through Tate.

2. Surf & Serve will take place from 11:00 am until 2:00pm each day.

Day of Service

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 3:00pm-6:00pm. Athens Community

Registration and Check-In: 3:00pm-3:45pm Tate Reception Hall

Students are invited to join the Service Ambassadors with their Serv(ED) project on the

afternoon of November 6, 2013. Serv(ED) programs provide the UGA student population with

service opportunities, which allow students to connect with the Athens community by identifying

and fulfilling a need for service. Students should expect to participate in a couple hours of

service that concludes with a student-run reflection.

Sign up for the project is on a first-come-first-serve basis and students will be able to sign up for

one out of several service sites. Transportation to the service sites will be provided and check in

will take place from 3:00pm-3:45pm on the first floor of the Tate Student Center.

For more information about Service Ambassadors at UGA, and to sign up for the Serv(ED)

project, please visit: volunteerinathens.uga.edu

components are as follows:

events, or your Homecoming Court candidacy will be affected.
