Tie three candy canes together with ribbon, turn upside down and stand with a name

card for a simple table place card.

Decorating at Christmas doesn’t have to be an expensive job. Using handmade decorations can give your Christmas a special personal touch:

Use a large spread of plain paper for a table cloth and let children colour it in for

you! Not only will the children have fun but you’ll have a masterpiece ready to hang!

Sprinkling your table with glitter will add a Christmas sparkle to your table set up.

Make your own handmade crackers for a personal touch – you can even give a

personalised gift inside.

Paint pine cones green, place them in a mini plant pot and top them with a star to make the ultimate mini Christmas trees.

Fold paper into smaller and smaller triangles and then cut shapes out to create

unique snowflakes when unfolded.

Turn your socks into two balls, fix together using a small strip of fabric as a scarf and

add a third sock as a hat. Add buttons, eyes and nose to create sock snowmen!

Christmas is about spending quality time together with family and friends. Here is a small selection of games that can be played by all ages:

Christmas Party Games

Players: 2+You’ll need: Pens and paper

Pick five categories, for example TV, Movies, Music, Trees and Dog breeds and five random letters,

so E, T, H, L and M. Write the categories along the top and the letters down

the side of your papers.

Each person or team has 1 minute to think and fill in each box, per letter. Do this for one letter at a time,

adding up your score before moving on to the next letter. At the end of the time count up how many points you have, 1 per correct answer – if two people/teams have

the same answer or there is disagreement on the answer, they get 0 points for that category.

At the end, add up how many points you have over all – the person with the most points, wins!

Homemade Scategories

Players: 4+You’ll need: Egg Cup and water

With the family sat around a table, nominate someone to be player one. This person picks a category, for example Mariah Carey. They then secretly choose one thing about that category so maybe ‘All I want for Xmas’ and locks it into their mind. They then hold an egg cup of water

above each person in turn while they say out loud something to do with the category (so, songs by Mariah Carey). When someone says the example

locked in player one’s mind they get drenched! They then take the role of player one and picks a new

category. The winner is the driest!

Egg cup roulette

Players: 4+You’ll need: Pens and paper

Form two teams and each nominate a player to go first. Those two players confer to pick a subject to draw. They then get 30 seconds to draw their

subject without using words or numbers. The other members of the team have to guess what the subject

is without looking at the other team. The first team to guess wins that round. Take turns to draw and

guess until everyone has been, the winning team is the one with the most rounds won.

Homemade Pictionary

Players: 2+You’ll need: Pens and sticky notes

Everyone secretly writes the name of a famous person or character on a sticky note and passes it covered up

to the person on their left. That person, without looking, sticks the note to their forehead.

Starting with the youngest ask questions in turn to try to guess your name. The first person to guess is the winner.
