From Film to Chabby Chic

“I have a strong background in business and had worked in the high pressure film industry out here in L.A. for a dozen years. After having my son I wanted to slow down a bit. Shabby chic was very in at the time, so I began selling a shabby chic baby blanket. I was selling to whole-salers, but I decided it would be more fun to work on the retail side, so I made the shift. My best decision in starting my business was to connect with the best in the industry—people who knew where things were going with children’s fashion,” Kim says.

An Online Revolution

“As a mother I learned early on that it was no fun shopping with kids. Plus, if you had a son, like I did, there was nowhere to go for interesting clothes for boys. Living in L.A. made me naturally gravitate toward the more edgy, trend-driven items. You won’t find a lot of classic or traditional looks on our site. I always like to offer a bit of a twist with our clothes,” Kim says.

“Early on I noticed that stores were really ignoring boys’ fashion, especially online. I made it my mission to become a great source of casual clothing for both boys and girls. Some of my most satisfying mail comes from mothers of boys who are grateful for our broad selection.”
