THE KOMI GIANT
Parshukov Vladimir,honored master of sports of the USSR
Vladimir was born on the 4th of August 1946 in Myyoldino, Republik Komi
Two bears The sports way of Vladimir as a wrestler began during his
army service. 1965 he won the Championship of the Aircraft of the Black See Fleet. 1967 Vladimir won the championship of Ukraine, the championship of the USSR and became the master of sports of the USSR. In march 1968 Parshukov was invited to the sport base in Alushta. There Alexander D`yakin, the coach of the country`s national team on free-style wrestling, paid attention to W. Parshukov, possessing the bearish force, and invited to the Olympic fees. His first fight Vladimir had with the legendary wrestler Alexander Medved`. Vladimir didn`t know, who it was but he tried to resist. Later Vladimir learned, that he wrestled with the multiple Champion of the World.
The year of brilliant victories
1970 the IX International tournament of free-style wrestling was held in Tbilisi. Here Vladimir won the first prize and became the Master of sports of international class.
15 November 1970 the Tournament of Russia was held in Syktyvkar. He won “silver”.
This year the Union Competition was held in Ezhva. Nobody was not equal to him.
His awards and achievements
During his long life in sport (16 years in the USSR team) Parshukov spent on the carpet about 4000 fights.
Became the seven-time winner of the Cup of the USSR and three-time champion of the USSR, has won the absolute superiority of the Soviet Union, the World Cups (1975, 1977 ), the European championship (1976).
For sporting achievement is awarded the order «Sign of honor», was awarded the honorary title «Honored worker of science and culture of the Komi ASSR».
He is not forgotten
In 2001 in honor of Vladimir was established by the Republican memorial.
In 2008 memorial received the status of the Russian. Every year in Komi are held 10 major competitions on free-
style wrestling. Athletes of Komi won six gold medals at the VII all-Russian
memorial honored master of sports Vladimir Parshukov.
