New England

The New England Colonies included New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maine(part of Massachusetts). They couldn’t grow much since it was cold there. Settled in 1620- 1636 .

Middle Colonies

The Middle Colonies were New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. There, the climate was better then than the one in New England because it was warm. That was very good for planting crops. They grew wheat, oats, barley, and rye. They were know as the “Bread Basket Colonies”.

Southern ColoniesThe Southern Colonies were the colonies that had a better advantage to grow crops. The South raised tobacco, cotton, rice, and indigo (cash crops).They had a plantation system that led them to a wide spread of slavery in the colonies.
