DIBS Coating Systems have to be applied and controlled during the application process by Licensed Applicators according to the strictest of standards laid down in the terms and conditions of the DIBS Licensed Applicator Trademark License Agreement (TMLA). The DIBS control programmes include the following: Global quality specifications must be met per the aforementioned TMLA which include Brand Assurance Qualification testing conducted by DuPont and an initial coating Line Qualification for each and every DIBS Coating System. This Qualification is known as an ‘IQ’ or ‘Initial Qualification’. Each DIBS Applicator must have signed a three (3) year DIBS trademark license agreement with DuPont and upon signature and initial ‘IQ’, DuPont issues the initial appropriate ‘license to operate’ certificate. Subsequent to the IQ, each DIBS Licensed Applicator is subject to an annual audit, also conducted by DuPont, to ensure that the DIBS system selection, application methodology and process control continue to meet the rigorous standards. This qualification is known as a ‘Routine Qualification’ or ‘RQ’. Subsequent to a satisfactory result from the annual ‘RQ’, DuPont issues an ‘Audit Certificate’ which clearly states the DIBS systems for which each licensee is authorised and the period of authorisation. DIBS Coating Systems must be applied to the trays and moulds at all times in full compliance to the DuPont specifications and no products from competition can be used in any DIBS system being sold under the Teflon® brand. DuPont has the means to analyse and check as to whether any DIBS coating system is genuine or counterfeit and DuPont will at random as well as on a periodic basis pull in trays and mould for analytical checks. DuPont has the right at any time also to carry out ‘random audits’ on any of its DIBS Licensed Applicators premises. Seal Programme DIBS Licensed Marketers – Licensees which have signed a DIBS Marketer trademark license agreement with DuPont which sell trays and moulds coated by a DIBS Licensed Applicators, have the right to promote and sell their coated trays and moulds under the Teflon® brand and also the right to use their customised DIBS co-branding ‘Marketer Seals’. Each DIBS Licensed Marketer will have entered into a three (3) year agreement with DuPont and upon the appointment as such, DuPont issues to each Marketer a ‘certificate of authorisation’ which will clearly state the types of trays and moulds and the DIBS coating systems each Marketer licensee is authorised to promote and sell. DIBS Licensed Marketers are permitted to use the aforementioned seals and certificates on their promotional literature, invoices, shipping documents, exhibition stands and on their websites. They are also authorised to apply seals physically to their DIBS coated trays and moulds and on packaging when preparing shipments to their customers. DIBS Licensed Applicators have their own seals and there are three (3) levels of DIBS Qualification. Stage 1 – ‘Qualified’, Stage 2 – ‘Premier’ and Stage 3 – ‘Master’. By definition Premier and Master Applicators will have been ‘qualified’ by DuPont for more DIBS systems and different types of trays and moulds than a Stage 1 ‘Qualified Applicator. Premier and Master Applicators will be able to use ‘co-branding’ just like DIBS Licensed Marketers for their promotional activities. None the less ‘Qualified Applicators‘ will be permitted to use their seals and certificates on their invoices, shipping documents, websites, exhibition stands, and in their promotional literature, just like DIBS Licensed Marketers.
