What is a calorie

• It is a unit of energy content of food

• In Canada there has to be a food label on all foods other than restaurants, alcohol and baked goods – this shows the caloric intake

• Are there such things as good and bad calories

How much is too much• Calories needed for the average teenage:• Male = 2700-3000kcal• Female = 2200-2500kcal

The average fast food meal has 1200kcal and up to 60% fat !

Diet should be about:60% carbohyrdates, 15% protein and 25% fat
