Ms. Beaupre, a sixth and seventh grade science teacher at Campbell County Middle School in Kentucky, has found a very interactive way of not only teaching her students but allowing them to compare grades with each other.

This system is called ResponseCards from Turning Technology. Like some other systems, ResponseCard works with PowerPoint, allowing Ms. Beaupre to integrate quizzes and poll responses into classroom presentations.

To say the least, Ms. Beaupre is able to make assessments in regards to the students learning styles, knowledge of subjects studied, and many more aspects of the classroom. Her students absolutely love the “clicker” or devise used to answer questions on the PowerPoint system. And Ms. Beaupre loves the fact that she can show the results of her assessments or quizzes via a bar graph and the students can compare grades with their peers.

This type of teaching/learning system is very helpful with assessing new pupil levels, quick and easy prep-time, and instant answer system.

"I use a bar graph because it gives me the quickest data for evaluating where students are. The students like it too. After a few times [of seeing the system in action], students become excited to see

how they compare," said Ms. Beaupre.

The ResponseCard System is a great way to use technology in the classroom. The instructor is able to use Powerpoint in order to assess the students’ overall learning abilities, grades, and it even allows students to easily and quickly compare their stats with peers. This system makes it easier for teachers and students to better learn in a lectured classroom setting.

West New York School District takes great emphasis on the way their students learn and keeping up with the latest technology is what puts this school district on top!

From their first day of kindergarten to sixth grade, all students are given a more basic computer. Middle schoolers have high tech computers, tv’s, dvd’s, video streamers, etc.

High schoolers on the other hand are given eight computer labs with laptop ports and an interactive television classroom. Students are able to enroll in computer application classes in order to obtain a Microsoft Certification.

West New York School District has become not only a technologically advanced school system, but they have enriched their way of teaching and their students are a step ahead in education.

The West New York School District is doing an amazing justice for the kids in the system. With the way technology is advancing so quickly, it is most essential that kids in today’s education system are on track with all this technology. Its great that the educators took it in their hands to advance their students in West New York and is giving them the opportunity to expand their horizons and have a better understanding of technology and how its used.

A digital microscope is the new wave of teaching science. Otherwise known as a Smartscope, this piece of aquiptment allows students to understand of basic concepts of microscopic organisms.

This scope allows the teacher to assess each students performance. The device captures pictures in a way that is easier and faster for students to obtain the information they need.

There are so many ways of utilizing this device. For instance, it can be used to take still images, which is easier than drawing a picture. The images can then be presented using PowerPoint. The images can be zoomed in to get a closer look at the details of the object.

The students really enjoy this Smartscope device and are able to compile all their data into portfolios which are then used to assess their performance.

Being an avid science enthusiast, this article really intrigued me. Having a lot of experience with microscopes and how neat they may be, there is a lot of work to be done with them when observing specimen.

The Smartscope seems to be an amazing piece of equipment for science and helping to teach students how cool science can really be. Allowing the students to take still images and upload them onto applications or other devices is remarkable. This is a great advancement in science and for education.

The technical world of education is becoming so advanced that school systems have begun to teach at the kindergarten level strictly with computers. Technology is everywhere we go, its what we as a society have come to know and understand.

Whether its with laptops, PowerPoint, cell phones, Smartscopes, or video projectors, in order to teach our students effectively and efficiently, we must use technology. So whether you are an educator, parent, or student, get to know yourself with your technology!
