Dueñas Master Teacher I Magsaysay Integrated School Dinalupihan, Bataan Teachers are professionals who like any other professionals, does their chosen career. The main difference is that teaching is the profession that molds all the other professions. A teacher must never enter the classroom without a thorough knowledge of the lesson that she will teach. And even if the students were not very active in their class, a teacher must patiently apply the art of questioning for them to cope up with the lesson. Furthermore, the main job of teachers is to guide other individuals not only in the classroom but as well as with their own lives. A teacher as a person should be knowledgeable enough to comply with the needs of his/her vocation. He/she should be patient enough to adjust and wait for every learner. The teacher must not only teach the subject but more importantly, she must teach values and inculcate good manners and right conduct to her students. Harrison and Killion (2007) listed the different roles of a teacher and this includes being a resource provider, instructional specialist, curriculum specialist, classroom supporter, and learning facilitator. Moreover, the teacher must teach with passion and full of determination. The state of teaching is stronger because teachers everywhere are leading from their classrooms and taking on new roles to improve education. And we all know, when teaching is stronger, students benefit with increased engagement and achievement. A teacher plans organized and control activities toward the accomplishments of the teaching objectives. A teacher possesses all the qualities of a leader if he is to be a success. Has

THE TEACHER AND THE TEACHING PROFESSION by Joan M. Dueñas Master Teacher I

Magsaysay Integrated School Dinalupihan, Bataan

Teachers are professionals who like any other professionals, does their chosen career. The

main difference is that teaching is the profession that molds all the other professions. A teacher

must never enter the classroom without a thorough knowledge of the lesson that she will teach.

ability to think logically and make good decisions. He is willing to train subordinate so that they

can carry out assignments properly. Teacher senses the need for a high degree of social

effectiveness. He shows respect in dealing with the administrator, co teachers, students and

parents. He need to show a leadership skill, ability in planning, organizing, directing, executing

and evaluating intellectual curiosity of a teacher with perseverance. Perform the role of a genuine

leader.

In teaching profession, the kind of person you are has a direct bearing on how you deal and

promote the teaching and learning process. It is not only what you know that counts but what you

counts and spread among your learners does really matter. Competent teacher has clear purpose in

mind in teaching and learning. He contributes to the achievement of worthwhile purposes.
