Since the arrival of the new teacher, Maria Drazdechova, to a Bratislava suburban school in the year of 1983, life has turned upside down for students and parents. The convincement of the teacher’s corrupted behaviour and one of the students’ suicide attempt that could be related to that matter, makes the school Principal call the students’ parents for an urgent meeting that will suddenly put the future of all the families at stake. They are asked to sign a petition to move Miss Drazdechova out of the school. The teacher’s high connections within the Communist Party makes everyone feel threatened, but at his point they have no choice but to make a decision: will they dare to go against Miss Drazdechova and stand up for what they believe in at any risk, or will they just remain silent and let things be?STHE TEACHER

Jan Hřebejk was born 27 June 1967 in Prague. He is a Czech film, television, and theater director.Jan Hřebejk is without a doubt one of the best Czech directors today. In the Czech Republic, each new film of his is eagerly anticipated.“Divided We Fall” received an Oscar nomination for best foreignlanguage film and also won six Czech Lions. He has received another two Czech Lions for his films – “Up and Down” and “Big Beat” .At the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2013, he received the directing award for his most recent film, “Honeymoon”.

“When I think of The Teacher, I see it as a carefully organized

and engrossing analysis of how a society can slowly grow

numb and browbeaten to the point of losing hope of effecting

any change at all. It is a film about how collective lethargy

can lead to tragedy. And a film about the hope contained in

refusing to stand idly by, about overcoming one’s own fears. This is something that I find

extraordinarily topical, and if it is well filmed, it always will be!”

hree friends - Charlotte, Adrian and Viktor who are all in their late 20s become friends during their time on service in the Telemark Battalion in Afghanistan between 2010 and 2012. Not long after, Adrian and Charlotte fall in love whilst still working in the army. All three of them are extreme sports enthusiasts and love the physical challenges associated with explorations. Ever since they first met, they have planned to descent into an unexplored cave system deep in the mountains. Several years earlier, two foreign divers drowned while exploring a part of the cave they wish to explore. One of the divers was never found, and in the time that followed the cave was closed off for expedition. Regardless of the obvious danger, the three friends decide to set forth on the journey alone through the cave. The journey that awaits them requires them to raft, rappel, climb and dive. The journey is expected to take 48 hours to get from the start point to the exit on the opposite side of the mountain. Whilst they didn’t expect the descent to be easy, they didn’t plan for what they faced in the dark, narrow depths of the uncharted cave.

T“For a long time I’ve wanted to work with genre film in a greater sense, and have been

looking for an idea that combines a broad commercial appeal with an intricate plot

and interesting characters. The thriller is a classical genre that plays with well-

functioning, established conventions, where suspense is created in the encounter with the

audience. The potential here, and the many possibilities for unexpected plot twists that

challenges the expectations of the audience, is an exciting aspect that greatly interests

me. My aim is to make an exciting thriller, supported by well-developed characters

clearly defined by their motivations, with a plausible plot as a foundation. The intrigue

and the events of the film are logically outlined and feel authentic, in order to

create as much engagement from the audience as possible.”

Director Henrik Martin

Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken grew up in Hamar, and is Norway’s most productive and eclectic filmmaker. Dahlsbakken’s first feature film, “Returning Home” (“Å vende tilbake”), premiered in 2015 at the Rome Film Fest, won the top honour at Nordic Film Days in Lübeck and was short listed as the Norwegian Oscar candidate for best foreign language film. Dahlsbakken continues to develop his own personal film projects, and will premiere two feature films in 2016; the crime drama Late Summer and action thriller CAVE.

Completed Featurehen their son Esben moves away from home, middle-aged Danish couple, Kjeld and Vibeke, become uncertain of their own path of existence; his absence leaving them with a feeling of needlessness. Attempting to revive the magic sparks of their younger days, they move into their old student apartment where they first fell in love. Recapturing their youth is literally changing them in strange and unexpected ways. And as they wake up one morning to find that they are actually now thirty years younger, they are forced to realise, that the past they once knew might no longer exist.W

“In my writing and directing I always draw upon my own personal life and experiences. Actually, my inspiration writing

Parents arose from a dream I had, several years ago, of my own parents moving into their pre-parenthood apartment. This dream initiated a curiosity in me to explore the human need for

reliving and taking control over your past - a state of mind I find quite universal.”

Director Christian Tafdrup

Christian Tafdrup (born 1978) is a renowned Danish actor who has appeared in numerous films and television series. He has written and directed three short films, all of which have gained international attention, most recently the award winning “Awakening” / “En forelskelse” (2008) about a 16 year old boy who falls in love with his girlfriend’s father. “Parents” / “Forældre” (2016) is Christian Tafdrup’s first feature film.

BROTHERS

Completed Filmarkus and Lukas live in an old townhouse in the middle of Oslo. The river runs close to their home. A paradise in the big city. And then there’s Smøla, where their mother grew up and where summer vacations are spent. We watch them grow up, and their dreams and expectations being shaped. Markus loves soccer, and wants to be a professional. Lukas is more of a philosopher asking questions about the world, about himself, and what

it’s all is about. Sometimes, what they want and need is the direct opposite of being a loving son or brother.

The documentary Brothers is filmed by director Aslaug Holm, the boys’ mother, over an eight year period. This is her attempt to capture their childhood and brotherhood, and their discovery of life, whilst looking back at her own family history.M

“I wanted to make a film that describes childhood, growing up, memories and the close relationship between brothers. Before I

became a mother, I believed we could influence our children much more. Now, after having two sons I discovered that they have been

ready-made from the beginning. I have earlier been around the world and filmed prominent people. But I slowly realised what life really is about - trying to understand who we are from the

beginning. That̀ s why I wanted to do BrothersDirector Aslaug Holm

Aslaug Holm is one of Norway’s most acknowledged documentarists in directing, cinematography and editing.

She is the first documentary director to win the Amanda for best directing. Among other films such as ”But in heaven I will fly” and ”The Rich country” Aslaug has edited and filmed the award winning and box office record documentary “Cool & Crazy” from 2001.
