t
This is a demo and review of the Tamerica Eco-49, a 4:1 coil binding machine
The Eco-49 is 13 pounds of heavy duty all metal construction. It punches papers for binding with coil spines.
Out of the box assembly is just one handle on the right side and you’re set to go
Among its new features is the side margin adjustment knob. This assures accuracy and consistency
in all your punching.
Convenient in the chip tray are to ways of measuring your project. One helps you determine the thickness
of your finished document
and the other helps you determine what size spiral you’ll need. With your materials all set,
let’s watch the Eco-49 in action.
You adjust your side margins and you pull the lever.
Holes that are punched are compatible up to two inches.
The Eco-49 claims that you can punch up to 12 sheets of 20lb paper per lift. However, in our test run we
found this to be really difficult.
We made it, but it was a strain. So we lowered our expectation as well as our amount of paper down to
8 sheets and that seemed to work out just fine.
Keeping this in mind, large documents could be quite tedious. Also, the Eco-49 is only a puncher; you’ll have
to coil by hand or use a second machine such as Tamerica’s DuraCoil or Akiles’ Roll-@-Coil line.
And clean up is a snap with a front loading chip tray.
And that’s it. That’s the Tamerica Eco-49 coil punch machine.
