Which characters to include in first phase?
• Why ”å, ä, ö, ü, é” for .se? Why not only å, ä och ö in the first phase?Why only these characters?
• ”I strongly recommend the characters Å Ä Ö É Ü in the first phase of the IDN introduction. These characters has been part of the national census bureaux since the time of computerizing it, see Swedish standard document SIS 63 21 27 (SS 63 21 27 version 2 1984) och Statskontorets technical norm nr 3 (3:2 from 1984; 3:3 from 1993).”

Sunrise rules at the introduction of IDN
• If there exists a previous registration for the same name but without diaresis you get priority to registraing the same with diaresis according to prevoius published table: Translitteration å ---> a, aa
ä ---> a, ae ö ---> o, oe
ü ---> u, ueé ---> e
• Priority gets all that has registered before 11 june 2003 (time for the deciscion of this rule was taken).
• Only one registration allowed per classical domainname
• In the case two or mor applicants apply for the same name, the one one with oldest registration date has precedence.

Statistics for the IDN introduction
• Totally for the period 14.822 correct applications was received
4.619 priority registrations
10.203 new registrations
• The number of unique applications was 8.764.
The priority queue contained 4.619 applications, of which 4.604 was unique. For 15 domainname the several applicants, in which case the ones with the oldest registartion dates was allocated the name.
The new registration queue contained 10.203 applications for 5.090 unique domainnames. For 962 domainname there was more than one applicants. Selection of applicants was made according to random selection (lottery) in the same way as for the liberalisation transition in april 2003.
