 COUNCILS USING THE SCMS Since October 2006, all twenty two councils within the Yorkshire and the Humber region have had access to the SCMS system. Leeds was one of the first adopters of the SCMS, ‘going live’ on the system in June 2006. Other councils started using the system in June and October on a phased implementation basis. Contact details for each of the participating councils can be found on the website. In addition to the above, other public sector organisations within the region will be offered the opportunity to use the system should they wish. Leeds City Council is collaborating with twenty one councils in the Yorkshire and the Humber region to promote electronic communication within the procurement sector. The introduction of the SCMS in June 2006 as part of a five year contract, is seen as a major contribution to this initiative. In early 2008, the Proactis Group Limited, locally based in Wetherby, acquired Alito Limited, the provider of the SCMS solution. Proactis are fully committed to ensuring the continued development of the SCMS within the Yorkshire and the Humber region, and see the SCMS solution as an integral part of the groups portfolio.
