the 12th Annual Texas So-ciety of Sculptors Show, announced the winners at the July 21 reception at the library.

First Place winner was Harry Angel and “Lady #3” made from mesquite. The People’s Choice winner was Ken Law and “Shum-la” created from stainless steel flatware, mostly twist-ed fork tines.

The Librarians’ choice winner was John Mark Luke for “Spirit Takes Flight.”

Other winners includ-ed second place for Bob Coffee’s “Arm Wrestlers,” third place for Matt Don-ner’s “Hard Rain’s a Gonna Fall,” and honorable men-tions went to Cass Hook, Kalena Powell and Bob Ra-gan.

Eric Lashley, library di-rector, credited sculptor Dar Richardson for bring-ing the annual show to the library a dozen years ago. The sculptures will be on display throughout the li-brary until September 20.

award-winning photog-rapher and judge Wes Odell are on display at TAGat120ART in Taylor through August 10.

His Gone series includes nine photos of the worn hands, tapped saddle horn and lasso of a cowboy in Art, Texas, which is on Highway 29 near Mason; haunting images of an emp-ty barber chair in Bannock, Montana, which was once a Territorial Capitol and prosperous gold mining town; and a silent sewing machine visible through a weathered cottage win-dow in an abandoned gold mining town near Garnet, Montana.

Texas Young MastersAlert for teachers and

students. The Texas Cultur-al Trust, Texas Young Mas-ters is calling for entries from eighth- to 12th-grade fine arts students. The ap-plication period opens next month with a deadline in November.

July People’s ChoiceThe Framer’s Gallery

People’s Choice Award winner for July is Jennifer Polnaszek. Ms. Polnaszek is

August 1 for sculptures to be included in the 2019-2020 City Sculpture Tour. The juried, year-long outdoor exhibition winners will receive awards by the Arts & Culture Board: $1,500 for first prize; $750 for second and up to 13 $500 awards for honorable mention.

Submission deadline is August 4 for the 2019 Art Hop exhibit. This annual exhibit is statewide and ju-ried organized by George-town Art Works. The art work will be displayed at the Georgetown Art Center and the Georgetown Public Library.

The 2019 Art Hop will award cash and prizes for the Best in Show and win-ners in individual catego-ries. Art Hop 2019 winning pieces will be on display from September 27 through October 26.
