to tell it over to our children.1 Especially during the aFh mFi of

zereay, we should learn about the things that happened then, to

help us remember dxFY o ©Y ©n2.

Day 1The dxFY tells us that on oei ¦q W ¤cFg W Ÿx the Yidden camped in

front of i©pi ¦q x ©d. They all had one goal in mind, to receive the

dxFY, nothing else mattered to them. Therefore they threw away all

their arguments and disagreements, and the joined together as one,

to get the dxFY.3

Day 2On the second day of oei ¦q, d ¤WŸn went up on i©pi ¦q x ©d4. ‡d told

d ¤WŸn to tell the Yidden the following, “You see how I love

you, that I punished m ¦i ©x §v ¦n terribly for what they did to you.5 When

it was time for you to leave m ¦i ©x §v ¦n, I made all the Yidden in m ¦i ©x §v ¦ncome together to q ¥q §n©r ©x quickly, like on the wings of eagles. Now I

brought you here to come close to Me and serve Me”6.

Then ‡d told d ¤WŸn the deal which He will make with the

Yidden. ‡d said, “Tell the Yidden, ‘If you will listen carefully

to what I tell you, to learn dxFY and do zF §v ¦n, You will be My

treasured nation, (I will watch over you like one watches a treasure).

All the nations are Mine, but I will pick you (to be the treasured

one)7. You will be a nation of princes, (every Yid will be special like

a prince)8 and you will be a holy nation, (you will live forever in

`ad mler9).’”

d ¤WŸn came down from i©pi ¦q x ©d and gave the Yidden this offer.

The Yidden said all together, “d ¤U£r©p” - “we will do” (we are

ready to accept the dxFY)10.

Day 3On the third day of oei ¦q, d ¤WŸn went back up i©pi ¦q x ©d to tell ‡dthat the Yidden want the dxFY.11

Then ‡d told d ¤WŸn to tell the Yidden how dxFY o ©Y ©n will work.

‡d said, “I will come down and talk to you (d ¤WŸn) through a

thick cloud, and tell you the zFx §A ¦c ©d z ¤x ¤U£r. (The purpose of the

cloud was so that people would not see the dpi ¦k §W of ‡d12). The

Yidden will all be able to hear Me telling you the dxFY, and they

will know that the dxFY is from Me, and that I told it to you. Then

you will come down and teach the dxFY to the Yidden”.13 By the

Yidden hearing Me talk to you, they will believe that you are a `i ¦ap,and they will believe that all what you tell them is from ‡d. Also

they will see themselves that ‡d talks to people and they will believe

in other mi ¦ i ¦a §p.14

d ¤WŸn came down from i©pi ¦q x ©d and told the Yidden how o ©Y ©ndxFY will work. The Yidden said, “No, we don’t want o ©Y ©n

dxFY to be that way. Ep ¥M §l ©n z ¤ zŸ §x ¦l Epi¥pFv §x - we ourselves want to

see our King. We want ‡d to give the dxFY directly to us.”15

Day 4On the fourth day of oei ¦q, d ¤WŸn went back up and told ‡d what

the Yidden said.16 ‡d told d ¤WŸn to tell the Yidden that if they

want to have the dxFY given directly to them they must make special

preparations for 3 days. They must stay away from d`nEh and wash

their clothing. This way, they will be ready for ‡d to come down and

talk to them. They also must make a boundary around i©pi ¦q x ©d and

warn all the Yidden not to go up on i©pi ¦q x ©d or even touch it. Anyone

signal that the dpi ¦k §W is leaving i©pi ¦q x ©d and everyone can go on the

mountain again.18

d ¤WŸn came down from the mountain and told the Yidden what

‡d said. (They must prepare for 3 days to be ready for ‡d to talk

to them and they must make a boundary around the mountain.19) At

that time, d ¤WŸn also told the Yidden some of the zF §v ¦n of the dxFY.

The Yidden answered all together “Whatever ‡d says, we will do”.20

d ¤WŸn then wrote down the dxFY from zi ¦W` ¥x §A until dxFY o ©Y ©n. He

also wrote down those zF §v ¦n which they were already told 21.

Day 5On the fifth day of oei ¦q22, d ¤WŸn woke up early and built a ©g ¥A §f ¦nat the bottom of the mountain. He also built 12 zFa¥v ©n, one for

each h¤a ¥W. Then d ¤WŸn sent the zFxFk §A to shecht zFpAx §w. d ¤WŸn caught

the blood in two bowls. He sprinkled the blood from one bowl on

the ©g ¥A §f ¦n. d ¤WŸn then read to the Yidden the dxFY that he wrote (and

asked them if they were ready to accept the 23dxFY ). The Yidden

said “rn §W ¦p §e d ¤U£r©p - we will do and we will listen”. d ¤WŸn sprinkled

the blood from the second bowl on the Yidden and told them, “With

this sprinkling, you are making a treaty with ‡d to follow the

dxFY”24.

Our minkg tell us that before ‡d offered the Yidden the dxFY,

He gave the other nations a chance to accept the dxFY. ‡d went

to the eU¥r i¥p §A and asked them if they want the dxFY. They replied

“Tell us what is says in the dxFY and we’ll see if we want it”. ‡dsaid, “The dxFY says “gv §x ¦z Ÿl - do not kill.” They replied, “Our

father, ,eU¥r lived by killing and we want to do the same. We don’t

want the dxFY”. ‡d went to the l`¥rn §W ¦i i¥p §A and asked them if they

want the dxFY. They replied, “Tell us what is says in the dxFY and

we’ll see if we want it”. ‡d said, “The dxFY says “aŸp §b ¦z `l - do not

steal.” They replied, “Our father, ,l`¥rn §W ¦i lived by stealing and we

want to do the same. We don’t want the dxFY”.25

When the Yidden were asked if they want the dxFY, they

didn’t reply, “Tell us what is says in the dxFY and we’ll see if

we want it”. Rather, they said, “rn §W ¦p §e d ¤U£r©p - we will do and we

will listen”.26 (They put d ¤U£r©p before rn §W ¦p, to say that we accept to

do the dxFY even before we hear what it says in it. This showed

amazing strength; they were ready to serve ‡d however hard it may

‡d was very proud of the Yidden for saying “rn §W ¦p §e d ¤U£r©p”. He

he sent 600,000 mi ¦k ¨ §l ©n, each one with two crowns. Every Yid

received two crowns, one for saying d ¤U£r©p and another for saying

rn §W ¦p.28 (The Yidden wore these special crowns until they did the

dxi ¥a£r of making the l¤b¥r).29

Day 6In the morning of the sixth day of ,oei ¦q 30 there were loud noises

and thunder. A thick cloud was on the mountain and a very

loud sound of the xtey was heard. All the Yidden in the camp

trembled in fear.31

d ¤WŸn brought the Yidden from the camp to the mountain.32 Our

mi ¦nk ©g tell us that it wasn’t proper that the Yidden had to be woken

up for dxFY o ©Y ©n. They should have been up early, waiting with

excitement for dxFY o ©Y ©n. To make up for what happened then, we

stay up the whole night learning, to show our excitement for o ©Y ©ndxFY.33

When the Yidden went out toward i©pi ¦q x ©d, the dpi ¦k §W of ‡dcame out to greet them. This showed that ‡d was eager to give

them the dxFY, like a ozg who goes out to greet his dl ©M.34

When the Yidden came to i©pi ¦q x ©d, ‡d lifted i©pi ¦q x ©d on top of

their heads. ‡d did this to force the Yidden to accept the dxFY.

‡d told the Yidden, “If you don’t accept the dxFY, there will be your

graves.”35 (Even though the Yidden already said they wanted the

dxFY, ‡d did not want them to change their minds out of fear of the

fire of dxFY o ©Y ©n)36.

The mountain was aflame with fire, burning up into the sky. 37

The Yidden saw the glory of ‡d as a raging fire on the top of

the mountain.38 The mountain was completely covered with smoke,

because the dpi ¦k §W of ‡d came down in fire. The smoke went up in a

pillar, like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain was

shaking very much.39 (The smoke was also a screen to block the

Yidden from seeing the dpi ¦k §W. There were 3 “layers”, darkness,

cloud, thick cloud. When d ¤WŸn went up on i©pi ¦q x ©d he went into these

three “layers”40).

Besides that the fire showed that the dpi ¦k §W of ‡d came down,

the fire also showed how bilii ¥d and special the dxFY is, that it

was given in fire.41

The sound of the xtFW was getting stronger and stronger.

(When a person blows the xtFW it starts off strong and then

‡d took the whole m ¦i ©nW, folded it (to make it smaller), and

brought it down onto i©pi ¦q x ©d. Then the dpi ¦k §W of ‡d came down

‡d called d ¤WŸn to come up i©pi ¦q x ©d and he went up. ‡d told d ¤WŸn“Go warn the Yidden not to come onto i©pi ¦q x ©d; make sure not

even one Yid will come up and die. Even the mi ¦p£dŸM should be

so eager to be close to Him, and they had a great desire to go up

close on i©pi ¦q x ©d. Therefore they had to be strongly warned)46.

d ¤WŸn replied, “The Yidden were already warned not to go up

on i©pi ¦q x ©d”. ‡d told d ¤WŸn to go anyway and warn them again.

(Even though they were warned before, they had to be warned

When ‡d said the zFx §A ¦cd z ¤x ¤U£r, He first said all 10 at exactly

the same time. (This is something only ‡d can do). Afterwards,

‡d said the first one by itself and then the second one.52

The voice that came from ‡d was a very loud and powerful

voice.53 It was a special r¤bi ¦lii ¥d voice; besides for hearing it,

the Yidden were able to see the voice54. They heard and saw the

voice, but they did not see a form of ‡d because ‡d is so bi ¦lii ¥d that

there is no form that we can see.55

After every one of the zFx §A ¦c the Yidden answered, “yes we

When the Yidden heard the zFx §A ¦c directly from ‡d they were

so scared, they ran backward 12 li ¦n, (about 12 miles, which

was the far end the d¤p£g ©n) . ‡d sent down mi ¦k ¨ §l ©n to help the Yidden

go back.57

Also, when they heard the zFx §A ¦c from ‡d, their zFnW §p flew up

to m ¦i ©nW.58 There were two reasons for this. One, they were so

scared from the fire and sounds.59 Two, hearing the zFx §A ¦c straight

from ‡d was such a r¤bi ¦lii ¥d experience that it was too bi ¦lii ¥d for

them to handle. Their zFnW §p flew up to miny to be close to ‡d.60 ‡dmade mi ¦z ¥n ©d z©i ¦g §Y and the Yidden came back alive.

The Yidden were so scared. They said to ,d ¤WŸn 61 “This was a

greatness and we heard His voice from the fire. We now see that it’s

possible for a nation to hear the words of ‡d and live. However we

are scared of the big fire of hii ©w §bi ¦lii ¥d. If we hear the voice of ‡dagain, we will die. You, d ¤WŸn, hear the rest of the zFx §A ¦c from ‡d,

and then you tell them to us62.

d ¤WŸn told the Yidden, “Don’t be afraid, ‡d spoke to you from

fire for two reasons. One, so that all the nations will see how

special the Yidden are that ‡d spoke directly to you. Two, ‡d wants

you to fear Him so that you will not come to do zFxi¥a£r.63

‡d was happy that the Yidden feared Him and asked to hear the

rest of the zFx §A ¦c from d ¤WŸn. ‡d told d ¤WŸn, “Their request is

good. I hope that for all generations they will fear Me and be careful

doing zF §v ¦n; that way I will always be able to do good to them”.64

For the next 8 zFx §A ¦c, ‡d told to d ¤WŸn what to tell the Yidden.

The Yidden were listening and heard ‡d speak to d ¤WŸn. (From

here the Yidden knew without a doubt that d ¤WŸn was a `i ¦ap of ‡d.65)

d ¤WŸn said the words66 and ‡d made the voice of d ¤WŸn loud enough for

all to hear.67

The next day d ¤WŸn went up on i©pi ¦q x ©d to receive the rest of the

zF §v ¦n and the zFgEl68. He stayed in m ¦i ©nW for 40 days.

dxFY o ©Y ©n was the most amazing thing that happened in the

history of the world, something that had never happened

before. A whole nation heard the voice of ‡d through the fire and

they were able to live. No other nation of the world ever claimed to

have this.69

Also, during dxFY o ©Y ©n, ‡d opened up the all the many levels of

the m ¦i ©nW and the u ¤x ¨ . The Yidden were able see with their

own eyes that ‡d is the king over the whole world and no other

power exists at all.70

The fact that the Yidden heard the zFx §A ¦c directly from ‡d was

a very important thing. From then on, no one would be able to

say that the dxFY isn’t true. We ourselves heard it from ‡d!!!!!71

The dnW §p of every Yid was at dxFY o ©Y ©n. At dxFY o ©Y ©n, each

dnW §p was given its own personal w¤l ¥g (portion) in the dxFY, for

him/her to learn and understand. When we learn dxFY we are

learning the dxFY which we received at dxFY o ©Y ©n.72

As ‡d had originally said would happen, the Yidden heard ‡d saying

the zFx §A ¦c to d ¤WŸn and d ¤WŸn repeating them to the Yidden. This was

a great qp because in order to hear ‡d talk one has to be a great `i ¦ap.Many of the Yidden were not on a high enough level to be a `i ¦ap,yet ‡d lifted every single Yid up to the level of a `iap so that he

could hear and see dxFY o ©Y ©n.
