Transcript of The Story of Finn Mc Cool
This is the Giant´s causway in NorthernIreland. It is made of beautiful hexagonal
rocks but who made them? How do you thinkthey were made?
Finn was so angry, and determined to fight them, that he built a whole causeway from Northern
Ireland to Scotland. He built it of unusual hexagonal stones. They were very pretty pavement
indeed!
A Scottish giant called Benandonner heard FinnMcCool shouting insults. He was so angry he
started to cross the causeway to fight Finn. Finnwent to meet him.
The scottish giant got closer and closer. The closerhe got the bigger he was! He was BIG!
ENORMOUS! HUGE!
When Finn saw how big Benandonner was, he ranall the way back to Ireland. He ran FAST! He was
scared. He ran home and hid.
He told his wife Oonagh. “I picked a fight with a scottish giant but he is
much much bigger and much stronger than me!”
But Oonagh was clever. She had an idea!“Jump into the bath tub and I´ll put sheets on you.
You pretend to be a baby!”
They waited and waited. They heardBenandonner´s footsteps. They sounded like
thunder! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
When Benandonner arrived, Finn was not there.
“I´m sorry, Finn is out jogging.” said Oonagh, “He always runs around Ireland 20 times before lunch”
“Come in and have a cup of tea while you wait.”
So Benandonner sat down with Oonagh and drankhis tea.
As he was drinking, he saw the cradle in the corner.
“That´s our baby” said Oonagh “ She´s 7 monthsold. She´s going to be big and strong like her
daddy. Come and say hello”
Benandonner looked in the cradle and saw Finn.“That baby is HUGE!” thought Benandonner. “
How big is the father!”Benandonner was scared!
“I´m sorry”said Benandonner, “ It´s really very late! I have to go! Goodbye!”
and he ran as fast as he could back to Scotland. As he ran he desroyed the causeway so Finn could not
follow him!
Finn chased the scottish giant to the sea. On theway he tore up some land. This filled up with waterand became lough Neagh. He threw it at the giantbut he missed. The land fell in the sea and is now
called The Isle of Man.
Finn and his family lived for many years after. Today all you can see are the two sides of the
causeway.In Northern Ireland…
