BE it enacted by His Excellency the Governor and Commander-in-Cbief of the Colony of Cyprus as

follows:—

1. This Law may be cited as the Documents (Special Short title Duty) Law, 1940.

"appropr ia te au tho r i t y " means the authori ty estab­lished by, or appointed under, or mentioned in, any Law or public instrument enumerated in column 3 of the Schedule hereto.

Special duty 3. Whenever under the provisions of any Law or public and'paid!Sed instrument enumerated in column 3 of the Schedule hereto

any document described in column 2 of the said Schedule—

(a) is made or delivered or sent to , or left with, the appropriate authori ty, or

(δ) is issued by the appropriate authori ty,

there shall be charged by the appropriate authori ty, and shall be paid to the appropriate authori ty by the person concerned, in respect of every such document a special duty at the ra te appearing in column 4 of the said Schedule and set opposite to the description of such document.

Special duty 4. The special duty imposed by this Law shall be paid by adCsfve DY adhesive stamps of a value equal to the ra te appearing stamps. in column 4 of the Schedule hereto, and such adhesive

stamps shall be affixed as follows, t ha t is to say,—

(a) where the document is issued by the appropriate authori ty out of a counterfoil book, on the counter­foil of such book; and

(&) in all other cases, on the document itself.

Special duty 5. The special duty imposed by this Law in respect; addition to °f an.V document described in column 2 of the Schedule any other hereto, shall be in addition to any other fee, charge or oreduty!Se (bity payable in respect of every such document under

the provisions of any other Law or public ins t rument in force for the t ime being.
