Friday, January 12th, 1940. THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND EMBILMERS OF MARYLAND. The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present: Mr. George A. Farley, President, Mr. Sol Levinson, Vice-president, Mr. Edward L. Lilly, Mr. William F. Wooden, Mr. Charles E. Delosier. There being no corrections the President ordered the minutes of the meeting held Friday, December 8th, be approved as read. Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Delosier, that the Board inform Mr. Spriggs that the Board cannot permit the advertise- ment requested by him, because Mr. Owens at the time of his death was not a licensed funeral director. SO ORDERED. A. C. Welch, Inc., Chaptico, Maryland, wrote the Board informing them of the relinquishing of a license registered in their name. Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the in- spector investigate the Leonard Whalen case and report to the Board. SO ORDERED The scholastic committee, composed of Messrs. Wooden, Lilly, Levinson and Delosier, reported that they had given the scholastic examination to Mrs. Mildred Marriott on December 29th, and that she had received an average of thirty-eight and one quarter. Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the Board notify Mrs. Mildred Marriott as to the outcome of her examination, and also send a letter to the National Conference of Embalmers Ex- amining Boards and to the Cincinnati College of Embalming, enclos- ing copy of Mrs. Marriott's last letter to the Board. SO ORDERED. Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that a committee be appointed to interview Mr. John White regarding the application of William Chambers, Jr. for apprenticeship registrations. SO ORDERED. The President them appointed the following committee: Mr. Wooden and ^r. Delosier. THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND EMBILMERS OF MARYLAND.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

Mr. Edward L. Lilly, Mr. William F. Wooden, Mr. Charles E. Delosier.

There being no corrections the President ordered the minutes of the meeting held Friday, December 8th, be approved as read.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Delosier, that the Board inform Mr. Spriggs that the Board cannot permit the advertise­ment requested by him, because Mr. Owens at the time of his death was not a licensed funeral director. SO ORDERED.

A. C. Welch, Inc., Chaptico, Maryland, wrote the Board informing them of the relinquishing of a license registered in their name.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the in­spector investigate the Leonard Whalen case and report to the Board. SO ORDERED

The scholastic committee, composed of Messrs. Wooden, Lilly, Levinson and Delosier, reported that they had given the scholastic examination to Mrs. Mildred Marriott on December 29th, and that she had received an average of thirty-eight and one quarter.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the Board notify Mrs. Mildred Marriott as to the outcome of her examination, and also send a letter to the National Conference of Embalmers Ex­amining Boards and to the Cincinnati College of Embalming, enclos­ing copy of Mrs. Marriott's last letter to the Board. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that a committee be appointed to interview Mr. John White regarding the application of William Chambers, Jr. for apprenticeship registrations. SO ORDERED.

The Board instructed the Secretary to write William A. Jackson and Frederick A. Cole summonsing them to the office at a subsequent meeting to explain why they have continued to adver­tise in violation of the agreement made to the Board.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by ^r. Lilly, that the application of Robert S. Little for funeral director's and em­balmer's courtesy cards in the State of Virginia, and undertaker's courtesy card in the State of Pennsylvania be approved, and the Secretary notify the Virginia and Pennsylvania State Boards.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the application of Josiah S. Everly for funeral director's and em-balmer's courtesy card, having been approved by the State Board of Virginia, be issued. " SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the applications of George M. Lindemon and Joseph J. P«tza for funeral director's apprenticeship registrations be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fees.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the bill for the dues of The Conference of Embalmers Examining Boards of United States in the amount of $50.00 be paid. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Lilly moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that Ellwood R. Burgess and Stetson D. Wilson be summonsed in to explain why their apprenticeship registrations should not be cancelled.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly that the meet­ing now adjourn. SO ORDERED.

THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND EIBALMERS OF MARYLAND.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

Mr. George A. Farley, President, Mr. Sol Levinson, Vice-president,

Mr. Edward L. Lilly, Mr. Franklin B. Hill, Mr. William F. Wooden, Mr. Charles E. Delosier.

There being no corrections the President ordered the minutes of the meeting held Friday, Jamuary 12th, be approved as read.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that attorney Josiah F. Henry, Jr. be informed of the status of James I. Dennis, Sr., and be given a full explanation of why he cannot be registered as an embalmer. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that attorney Alexander Gordon, 3d, be given a full explanation of the law which prohibits the Board from registering A. Reiley Sladeas an em­balmer. SO ORDERED.

The Secretary was instructed to answer the letter of Governor 0!Conor, setting forth the accomplishments of the Board and future objectives.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the bill for rent due the Court Square Building be paid. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the applica­tion of Walter B. Spriggs for branch at 538 Dolphin Street, Baltimore, Maryland, be approved. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Lilly moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the State's attorney of Allegany County be apprised of the out come of the writ of recovery filed in the Lempereur case, and be requested to now present said case to the Grand Jury. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden reported the following for the budget committee which called at Mr. Kirkman's Baltimore office in accordance with the appointment they had made with Mr. Kirkman and found that he was sick. After discussing the budget for some length with his assistant, Mr. Renle, he informed the committee that he would discuss the budget with Mr. Kirkman and notify them of any further action. President Farley then requested the same budget committee, composed of Messrs. Wooden, Levinson, Lilly and Delosier, to try to obtain a definite budget approval from ̂ r. Kirkman.

The Secretary was instructed to write to the Colored Funeral Directors Association, stating that Leonard Whalen has made application for reinstatement of his license and requesting them to furnish, the Board with any information that they might have as to why the Board should or should not reinstate his license.

Mr. Wooden reported for the committee that interviewed Mr. John White in regards to the case of William Chambers, Jr.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the appli­cation of Raymond A. Ziska for funeral director's and embalmer's apprenticeship registration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fee, and that the Secretary notify Mr. Ziska that his credit for apprenticeship served will only date from the date of application for apprenticeship registration. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that Ethel L. Hicks' application for funeral director's apprenticeship regis­tration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fee. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the application of Howard A. Gill for funeral director's apprenticeship registration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fee. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the applica­tion of Wesley Bayneum for funeral director's apprenticeship registration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fee. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the appli­cation of Charles Zeiler for renewal of apprenticeship registra­tion be denied. SO ORDERED.

The Secretary was instructed to notify Donald Murphy as to his apprenticeship credits.

THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND "EMBALMERS OF MARYLAND.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

There being no corrections the President ordered.the min­utes of the meeting held Friday, February 9th, be approved as read.

After reading correspondence of Mr. Alexander Gordon, 3d, the Secretary was instructed to notify Mr. Gordon that the Board would grant him a hearing on Friday, April 12th, at 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. ̂ evinson, that Mrs. Marriott be notified that her case was entirely in the hands of the National Conference of Embalming Examining Board. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. ̂ evinson, in view of correspondence with attorney John White and the statements made therein, that the application of William W. Chambers, Jr. for funeral director's and embalmer's apprenticeship registrations be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fees. SO ORDERED.

After reading correspondence with States Attorney Morgan C. Harris of Allegany County in the Lempereur case, the President instructed the inspector to go to Cumberland on April 8th, and present same to the Allegany County Grand Jury.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the application of B. Lee Feete for Virginia embalmer's and funeral director's courtesy cards be approved, and that the Virginia Board be so notified.

Mr. Wooden reporting for the budget committee stated that they had met4with Mr. Kirkman and thoroughly considered the budget as submitted, and. believe same will be approved in its present form, and if not Mr. Kirkman has agreed to so notify the Board.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the funeral director's examination be given on June %** , starting at 10:00 A.M., and the embalmer's examination be given on June */-^ starting at 10:00 A.M. SO 0RDEKED.

The President then appointed the following members as a committee to arrange and secure the questions for the coming funeral director's examination, Messrs. Wooden, Levinson, Lilly and Delosier.

Lilly, that the Board use the Conference questions for the embalmer's literary examina­tion, and that the Secretary be instructed to request copies of examination questions from Mr. Edward P. Jones, Chairman of the Conference Board, from which the Board can select a set of questions to be used for the examination. SO ORDERED.

The Secretary was instructed to write the Delaware Board regarding a courtesy card agreement for funeral directors and embalmers between Delaware and Maryland.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

There being no corrections the President ordered the min­utes of the meeting held Friday, March 8th, be approved as read.

Elwood R. Burgess appeared, accompanied by Mr. William H. Good, in answer to summons, and after hearing a review of his case Mr. Burgess was Instructed that the Board would notify him of their action.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that Pius B. Robinson and Joseph C". Mattingly be summonsed to appear at the Board's office at the next regular meeting, at which time a hearing will be held on charges preferred by Pius B. Robinson against Joseph C. Mattingly for permitting Compton Swann, a non-licensed embalme<̂ vto do his embalming. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Delosler, that Donald Murphy be considered as having served a two year registered em­balmer's apprenticeship and thereby being eligible for embalmer's examination, nrovided he has the other necessary requirements.

SO ORDERED. With Messrs. Hill and Lilly voting no.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the Secretary destroy the 1939 embalmer's examination papers.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson,moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that a voucher be issued to pay the Court Square rent to date. SO ORDERED.

William A. Jackson appeared and presented a letter from The Telephone Company stating that he had instructed them to remove the listing of Daniel Easton, and after reviewing said letter the President reprimanded William A. Jackson.

Mr. A. Reiley Slade appeared, accompanied by Mr. Alexander Gordon, attorney, and after hearing testimony presented by Mr. Gordon and Mr. Slade, copy of which is in Mr. Slade's file, Mr. Delosler moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that Mr. Slade's appli-

cation for embalmer's license without examination be denied. SO ORDERED.

Stetson D. Wilson appeared and after hearing his case, in which he stated he worked each day from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. for Mrs. Alice White Sutton at 2736 St. Paul Street, Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Eramptom, that in as much as Stetson D. Wilson is not serving a full time apprenticeship, as required by the by-laws, his apprenticeship registration be cancelled.

SO ORDERED.

Harvey Bradshaw appeared and made complaint against Dennis and. Watson for using StevensonTs name plates on hearses, Vernon Stevenson having died September, 1937.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the application of the Montgomery Funeral Parlor, Inc. to change the corporate name of Hughes and Jones to the Montgomery Funeral Parlor, Inc. be approved and the Secretary issue license to the Montgomery Funeral Parlor, Inc. upon the payment of the required fee. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Hill Moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the application of Frederick D. Miller, Inc. to change the corporate name of the Montgomery Funeral Parlor, Inc. to Frederick D. Miller, Inc. be approved and the Secretary issue said license upon the payment of the required fee. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that Mrs. Mildred Marriott be notified that the State Board of Maryland will take no further action in her case. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the appli­cation of Leonard Whalen for reinstatement of his funeral di­rectors and embalmer's license be denied. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the request of Herbert S. Bailey to trade as H. S. Bailey be approved.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the applications of Thomas F. Hayes, William E. Ferguson and Thomas L. Aydlett for funeral director's apprenticeship registrations and Thomas F. Hayes for embalmer's registration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon payment of the necessary fees.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden reported that he had investigated the charges preferred by Mrs. Carter against E. Willis Lamoreau, and a copy of his findings are in the Lamoreau file.

The President then requested that Mr. Levinson and Mr. Wooden see Mrs. Carter and inform her of their findings.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the Board again write Mr. Edward P. Jones, Chairman of the Conference Board and request several sets of embalmer's examination questions to select from. SO ORDERED.

Mr. -Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, in the event Mr. Jones does not comply with the above request that the President appoint a committee to prepare embalmerrs examination questions.

The President then appointed the following committee: Messrs. Levinson, Wooden, Lilly and Delosier.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Hill that Frederick A. Cole be notified by registered letter to appear before the Board to answer charges of permitting the continued listing of the name of John J. Fields in the telephone directory. SO ORDERED..

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the Board use the funeral directors examination questions as presented by the committee for the coming funeral director's examination.

SO ORDERED.

THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND EMBALMERS OF MARYLAND.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

Mr. George A. Farley, President, Mr. Sol Levinson, Vice-president, Mr. J. Jerome Framptom, Treasurer,

Mr. Franklin B. Hill, Mr. Edward L. Lilly, Mr. William F. Wooden, Mr. Charles E. Delosier.

There being no corrections the President ordered the min­utes of the meeting held Friday, April 12th, be approved as read.

Mr. Clay E. Dennis and Mr. S. Gordon Lawson appeared before the Board and preferred charges against H. Harvey Bradshaw for con­ducting funerals for the Home Beneficial Association of Stockton, Maryland, and specifically for interring the remains of Sarah Dickerson who died at Pocomoke City, Maryland, on April S9th, 1940, and was buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pocomoke City on May 5th, 1940, without a licensed funeral director being present.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the Board ob­tain warrants for H. Harvey Bradshaw for violation of Section 297 of Chapter 609 of Article 45 of the Funeral Director's law, for interring the remains of Sarah Dickerson. SO ORDERED.

The President then appointed Mr. Hill as a committee to secure warrants for H. Harvey Bradshaw.

Mr. Frederick A. Cole appeared in answer to summons and made the following statement: "I neglected to call the Telephone Company to have the name of John J. Fields removed from the telephone directory, but have since made arrangements with them whereby his name will not appear in future telephone directories unless accompanied by my name as successor. I do not believe that the Board has a right to stop me from using the name of John J. Fields as I have been using his name prior to the passage of the act prohibiting me from using same, but, in as much as, I have agreed, in writing, to remove same I have instructed the Telephone Company to make the necessary changes".

The President then informed Mr. Cole that if he had com­plied by having the individual listing of John J. Fields removed from the telephone directory, the Board would take no further action at this time.

Mr. Charles J. Mattingly, Mr. Joseph C. Mattingly and Mr. Pius B. Robinson appeared in answer to summons, accompanied by Mr. Philip Dorsey, Mr. Robert Harkness and Mr. Compton Swann.

After a thorough hearing on the charges preferred by Pius B. Robinson that Joseph C. Mattingly had permitted Compton Swann, a non-licensed embalmer, to embalm bodies for him the Board warned Mr. Mattingly that any future violations of the law would be prosecuted by the Board.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the appren­ticeship of Elwood Burgess be cancelled because he does not com­ply with Section 5 of Article 5 of the by-laws. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden reported that he had checked the address of Thomas F. Hayes and found that 4701 N. Charles Street was the home address of Thomas Hayes\ his'-father being the engineer of the Notre.Dame School.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the Secretary, accompanied by Mr. Wooden, present the records and any other data available to the Attorney General's office for an opinion as to whether or not the Board should cancel the funeral director's licenses of Harry E. Cook and Charles A. Kreissig.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the request of Stetson Wilson for funeral director's examination be denied, as he has not served the required two year registered apprentice­ship. SO ORDERED.

The application of Walter B. Spriggs for permission to continue the business of Edward Bryan was presented to the Board. Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that Mr. Levinson, a committee of one, be appointed to contact Walter B. Spriggs and inform him of the status of said application. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the applications of Mrs. Beulah Herwig, Mrs. Myrtle Herwig, Charles H. Burkett, Jr., Milton V. Burns, Herman Harris, W. Grant Patter­son, William S. Hanna, George Walker and David S. Watson for funeral director's apprenticeship registration and Milton V. Burns, W. Grant Patterson, William S. Hanna, George Walker and Davis S. Watson for embalmer's apprenticeship registration be approved and the Secretary issue same upon the payment of the required fees. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the appli­cation of Francis X. Dippel for funeral director's apprenticeship registration be approved provided that upon investigation it is found that he is serving a regular full time apprenticeship.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the two copies of Conference embalmer's examinations as received from the Conference should not be used, and that the Board prepare their own embalmer's examination questions numbering twenty-five

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the pre­vious motion be amended strisking out twenty-five and placing in lieu thereof fifty. SO ORDERED.

The previous motion with amendments was then passed.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Delosier, that we have a special meeting to prepare embalmer's examination questions for the coming embalmer's examination on Friday, May 17th, 1940, starting at 1:00 P.M. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that we write * the Division Passenger Agent of the Baltimore and Ohil Railroad and the Pennsylvania Railroad, and ask if it is permissible for a dead human body to be sent from Baltimore to New York or any other point on their system without passenger escort provided two tickets are purchased. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Lilly moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the appli­cation of Joseph Kasinskas for funeral director's examination be denied because he does not have a two year registered apprentice­ship as required by law. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the application of Charles H. Ward, Jr., for funeral director's ex­amination and embalmer's examination be denied because he does not have a two year registered apprenticeship as required by law.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded, by Mr. Lilly, that the application of Leon Henry for funeral director's examination be denied because he does not have a two year registered apprentice­ship as required by law. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the follow­ing applicants for funeral director's examination be declared eligible and they be notified to appear at this office on Monday, June 3rd at 9:30 A.M., to complete the funeral director's examina­tion. SO ORDERED.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

There being no corrections the President ordered the minutes of the meetings held May 10th, May 17th, June 3rd, June 4th, June 5th, June 6th, June 17th, June 24th and June 25th be approved as read.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that Andrew P. Derritt be notified that the University of Minnesota is a graded school. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Delosier, that the Board request an opinion from the Attorney General as to the status of David R. Martin's application for embalmer's examination. SO ORDERED.

The application of Wendell J. Dippel for removal of office from 1405 Gough Street, Baltimore, Md. to 312 S. Highland Avenue, Baltimore, Md. was approved.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that John H. Skiles be notified that the McAllister College of Embalming is an accredited school, and that if he has 840 actual school hours given within a six months course he will be eligible for examination. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the applica­tions of Rose H. Sanders, Leroy G. Webster, Norman D. Marshall, Lawrence Banks, Howard A. Gill and Robert E. Dieterich for funeral director's apprenticeship registrations be approved, and the secre­tary issue same upon receipt of the required fee of $5.00 each.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that the applica­tions of Francis X. Dippel, Robert E. Dieterich, Glenwood. Leister and Howard A. Gill for embalmer's apprenticeship registrations be approved, and the secretary issue same upon receipt of the required fee of f-5.00 each. SO ORDERED.

The Board approved changes of apprenticeship registrations of Frank B. Hudzik and Thomas F. Hayes.

After reading letter of Walter B. Spriggs the inspector was instructed to have the sign of John H. 0wens removed.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the application of John E. Keene for funeral director's apprenticeship be denied because Keene is not serving a full time apprenticeship under Milton Davis. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the appli­cation of H. B. Rishebarger for funeral director's courtesy card be approved and the Secretary issue same upon receiving the required fee of $5.00 SO ORDERED.

After permitting Harvey H. Bradshaw to review his papers from the recent funeral director's examination, and after he had questioned the markings he had received on questions 5, 6, 8, 12, 14, 18 and 21 the following action was taken.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the marking given on question #6 be changed from fifty to one hundred. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Lilly moved, seconded by Mr. Hill, that Mr. Bradshaw be declared passed.

On the motion Mr. Hill, Mr. Framptom and Mr. Lilly voted yes. Mr. Wooden, Mr. Levins0n and Mr. Delosier voted no. There being a tie vote the President voted no. Therefore the motion was lost.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the markings on question #14 be changed from zero to one hundred. SO ORDERED.

With Mr. Wooden voting no.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that Mr. Harvey H. Bradshaw, having received with these changes the required precentage of seventy-five, be declared to have passed the funeral director's examination. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Delosier moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that the Secretary request advance funds in the amount of $358.60 for each member to cover expenses in attending the conference of the National Conference of Embalming Examining Boards to be held in San Francisco, California. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Framptom moved, seconded by Mr. ̂ evinson, that the next meeting of the Board be held while attending the conference in San Francisco, California. SO ORDERED.

These are "estimated, of course, based on the records of the secretary and the office and we believe-this .to be as nearly accurate as can be determined now. Any variation would probably be very slight.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the budget, as submitted by the budget committee, be adopted. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Levinson, that Eckels College be notified that no definite dates have been set for the next examinations. SO ORDERED.

Mr. Lilly moved, seconded by Mr. Wooden, that the applica­tion of Edward L. Landwehr and Royston T'. Covington, Jr. for em-balmer's apprenticeship registration, and the application of Royston T. Covington, Jr. for funeral director's apprenticeship registration be approved, and the Secretary issue same upon payment of the re­quired fees. SO ORDERED.

The application of Ambrose, Inc. for change of address from 1017 W. Cross Street, Baltimore, Maryland to 412 and 414 N. Franklintown Road, Baltimore, Maryland, was read and approved.

The Board, upon being informed.of the Martin J. Dippel advertisement holding Francis X. Dippel out as being a funeral director, instructed the Secretary to summons Mr. Dippel to appear before the Board to explain said advertisement at its next meeting.

The Secretary was also instructed to notify Milton Davis and John E. Keene to appear before the Board at its next meeting and explain the status of the application of John E. Keene for funeral director's apprenticeship under Milton Davis.

Mr. Levinson moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the meet­ing now adjourn. SO ORDERED.

THE STATE BOARD OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND EMBALMERS OF MARYLAND.

The regular meeting of the Board was called to order by President Farley with the following members present:

Mr. George A. Farley, President, Mr. Sol Levinson, Vice-president, Mr. J. Jerome Framptom, Treasurer,

Mr. Franklin B. Hill, Mr. Edward L. Lilly,, Mr. William F. Wooden, Mr. Charles E. Delosier.

There being no corrections the President ordered the minutes of the meeting held November 8th be approved as read.

Charles H. Alexander and Edith Hicks appeared in answer to summons, and after a thorough hearing, Edith Hicks was notified that unless Charles H. Alexander made the Annapolis office the principal place of his business her apprenticeship registration would of necessity be cancelled.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Framptom, that the appli­cations of E. Melvin Headley, Joseph J. Baysmore, Edward McK. Smith, Edna C. Pumphrey, Charles H. Strider, Roland H. Ganges and Robert L. Stein for funeral director's apprenticeship registration, and Robert L. Stein, Roland H. Ganges and Charles H. Strider for em-balmer's apprenticeship registration be approved, and the secretary issue same upon receipt of the required fee of $5.00 each.

SO ORDERED.

Martin J. Dippel appeared in answer to summons for listing the name of Francis X. Dippel in advertisements in the Baltimore Sun as a funeral director when he has not been licensed by this Board. After a thorough discussion Mr. Martin J. Dippel agreed to discontinue same.

Milton Davis and John E. Keene appeared, in answer to sum­mons, and after a thorough hearing the Board found that John E. Keene was not and never had been in the employ of Milton Davis, and therefore was not entitled to apprenticeship registration.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Delosier, that the funeral director's and embalmer's licenses of Milton Davis be sus­pended from December 13th,. 1940 to May 1st, .1941, for making false affidavits on apprenticeship certifications, and making false cer­tifications to this Board on the apprenticeship application of John E. Keene. SO ORDERED.

Walter B. Spriggs appeared and stated his connections with Mrs. Bryan. He was told that he could not hold the name of Mrs. Bryan out as being manager of a funeral directing establishment unless she was first licensed" by this Board.

Mr. Hill moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the application of J. Robert Moore for embalmer's apprenticeship registration be denied because, upon investigation, the Board found that he is a student at the Western Maryland College and not serving an appren­ticeship under J. Virgil Moore as stated in the application.

SO ORDERED.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the applica­tion of George W. Archer for funeral director's apprenticeship regis­tration under Irving Bennett be denied because, according to state­ments of Irving Bennett accompanying the certification he is not serving a full time apprenticeship as required by law. SO ORDERED.

The application of the Metropolitan Funeral Home, Inc. to substitute the name of Charles H. Alexander as embalmer in place of J. Milton Skinner, deceased, was read to the Board.

The matter of Henry L. Frank having passed thelast funeral director's examination and never having applied for license was thoroughly discussed, and Mr. Lilly was requested to interview Mr. Ruck, employer of Mr. Frank, regarding same.

Mr. Wooden moved, seconded by Mr. Lilly, that the meeting now adjourn. SO ORDERED.
