Why we need Together for Tomorrow

Oceanography • Why are coral reefs

dying? • Simulating oil spills

and cleanup efforts • Building drifters

capable of collecting data

• Mapping sea ice from satellite data

• Connecting with oceanographers on excursions

3D Printing • Building up to a design

challenge sponsored by Eastman. This involves teaching 3D design and printing at D-B.

• Where else can 3D printing fit into curriculum?

• D-B possibly becoming a 3D hub

AP Capstone • Skills based • Made up of AP Seminar

and AP Research • Students completing

program successfully earn diploma distinction

• Only 4 schools in TN currently offer AP Capstone

• Received approval from College Board to begin offering in 17-18

Coming Soon to D-B

• Purchase and renovate Sullivan North and prepare for Kingsport transition – 2019-20 school year

– Occupy in the fall of 2020

• Renovate Sevier Middle, prepare for elementary school transition – 2020 school year

– Occupy in the fall of 2021

Approved Letter of Intent

(between KCS and SC)

5. Upon any needed redistricting, school systems will decide where a student would be best served based (in whole or in part) on transportation

6. SCSD and KCS may provide flexible attendance between new CTE-focused high school and Regional Science and Technology Center (as space permits)

7. KCS intends to use any remaining funds (after purchasing Sullivan North and constructing the RSTC) for renovating existing educational buildings

8. Once all approvals are complete and revenues are ensured, SCSD and KCS will complete detailed agreements outlined in LOI
