My Center
When undulating activities tilt our days
And threaten to throw us off balance,
When prayer strains under pressures
Of not-enough-time and nothing-happens,
When those we care about are pained
And we nearly cave in from our caring,
You continue to be a hub of stillness,
A nucleus of love, our core equilibrium.
No matter how out of control we spin,
You remain the peaceful Center for us.
Today: My Center keeps me balanced.

April 2 Kayleigh Cline is inviting people to use this time of isolation to “make good art,” as Neil Gaiman said in his commencement speech to a group of university graduates.

Let’s stay connected
Coleen Falk is organizing a group of people each of whom will call an assigned member of the congregation once a week or every other week. If you would like to be part of
this phone connection, please email Anna at [email protected] and she will let Coleen know.
Our church building is closed for the present and door codes have been suspended. For the rare occasion that a person needs access, please contact Anna Benowicz at

Artist Margie Davidson adding finishing touches to the newly recreated Lenten banner, March 13
The Worship Committee is delighted to announce that once again we have a full set of Affirm Banners hanging from the balcony! As you know, the original Lenten banner mysteriously disappeared sometime last May. In the summer, with little hope of the banner showing up, we asked Margie Davidson, one of the original artists, if she could make a replacement banner. Fortunately, Margie not only had fabric scraps left from the rainbows that wind their way across the banners, she had the time and resources to hand dye more fabric for the background. There was so much grace in this process and now we have the result which is a beautiful new banner, not quite the same as the original, but with its own story. For now we can admire the new banner as well as the complete set through photographs. There will also be a more formal welcome to the new banner in a few weeks, including an original story written by Toni Reid specifically for the occasion. In the meantime, we are grateful and excited!
