THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD

• Has all the attributes of deity, Acts 5:3-4• He is a divine person, Jno. 16:13-15• He inspired the prophets, empowered the

apostles and bore witness to the truth• Gave miraculous gifts to Christians

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS DOING

• He is using the word of God to accomplish human redemption– Convict world, Jno. 16:8-13; 2 Ths. 2:13-14– Guide Christians, Rom. 8:14, 1-2 (1:15-16);

Jas. 1:21-22; Gal. 5:16-25– Testify we are God’s children, Rom. 8:16

• Assurance of inheritance, Rom. 8:17• By obeying the Spirit-given word, 1 Jno. 2:5

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS DOING

• He has fellowship with Christians, Philippians 2:1–Dwells in you: HOLY SPIRIT ⇔ CHRIST

Romans 8:9-11• By faith, Eph. 3:17; Gal. 3:1-2• “Keep my words”, Jno. 14:23• Keep commands, 1 Jno. 3:24; 4:12-13

–Fellowship with deity, 1 Cor. 6:19-204

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT DOING

• Not baptizing people today– Misuse of John 3:3-5 (Eph. 5:26)– One baptism today: The promises and

purposes of Holy Spirit baptism have been fulfilled (Eph. 4:5; 1 Cor. 12:13)

• Not giving miraculous gifts today, 1 Cor. 13:8-10– Full revelation exists – No longer needed

WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT DOING

• Not revealing new truth today, John 16:13 (Jude 3)

• Not enlightening apart from the word of truth, Rom. 1:16; 2 Cor. 4:3-4 (3:8-9)

• Not directly indwelling people, 1 Cor. 6:19 (Jno. 14:23; Col. 1:27)– Neither demons nor deity directly

indwell people today

THE HOLY SPIRIT• Fulfilled the divine promise of

making known God’s revelation of redemption, Ephesians 3:3-7

• Work of the Holy Spirit is central to salvation in Christ

• Do not fear learning and teaching about the Holy Spirit

• He is God and deserves our praise and obedience
