Kits – Zvezda/Italeri
• UZTM production
• Pros– Dimensionally accurate– Inexpensive
• Cons– Multi-part lower hull– Detail is crude compared to DML/Tamiya– Missing some significant details– Mix of production features from different periods
© Neil Stokes 2010 - 2011
Kits – DML/Cyber-hobby
• Factory No.200 production
• Pros– Full range of variants– Excellent standard of molding
• Cons– Dimensional issues
• Lower hull height (partially fixed in recent releases)• Road wheel diameter (minor)• Return roller position (minor)
– Mix of production features from different periods

Fixing the DML/Cyber-hobby lower hulls
All kits except Cyber-hobby #9112 (and IS-1/IS-2 #9108)
• Lower hull is 1.5mm too low
• Fix– Add 1.5mm styrene strip to front and sides– Add upper hull to lower hull– Add upper rear hull plate– Remove ~0.5mm from lower rear hull sides– Add 1.5mm to upper edge of lower rear hull plate– Test fit lower rear hull plate & adjust as necessary

Fixing the DML/Cyber-hobby lower hulls
Cyber-hobby #9112 (and IS-1/IS-2 #9108)
• Lower hull has been raised by 1.5mm– Extension to upper rear hull sides– Extension to underside of bow on upper hull molding
• But:– Extension does not cover the entire length of the hull sides– Open gap behind the top run of the tracks
• Fix– Add 1.5mm styrene strip to remainder of upper hull sides– Match to existing extension

Kits – Tamiya
• Factory No.200 production
• Pros– Dimensionally accurate– Excellent standard of molding
• Cons– Typically expensive– Lacks some minor details– Mix of production features from different periods
