Recruitment - How it works

Recruitment ServicesFrom the management of national recruitment campaigns, to filling a ‘one-off’ apprentice or trainee vacancy, we offer a professional recruitment service and up to date advice about how best to recruit in the local labour market.

Job description, salary and trainingWe will work with you to draw up a job description for your vacancy/vacancies and advise you on a suitable salary given the type of Apprenticeship, level of job role and candidate specification you are looking for. Pitching the Apprenticeship salaries at a competitive level does result in higher staff retention and attracts good calibre candidates. We will also agree the most appropriate programme for you and your apprentice.

Funding and grantsWe will assess your eligibility for funding and any wage incentives to support salary costs. Training and qualification costs are fully funded by the government in most cases. If you take on an adult, however, you may have to pay a contribution towards the training.

We will advertise your vacancies through our established school and Sixth Form College networks, Jobcentre Plus, Connexions & Careers Services, National Apprenticeship Service website, in our regular jobs newspaper, and extensive digital networks - all at no cost to you.

We will short-list the candidates that best match your requirements and undertake a structured assessment with each candidate, including aptitude and skills testing where needed. Where appropriate, we will also provide preliminary training for the candidate so that we can ensure they are fully job ready.

We will set up interviews so you can select the most suitable candidate for your role, make an offer and then agree a start date.

Our industry expert will visit your employee in the workplace to guide them through the units of the qualification and agree their training plan. Most of the qualification is delivered in the workplace with little disruption to day to day activities but some off the job training may be required, depending on the type of job role, qualification and level.

When your apprentice has completed their qualification we will work with you to identify any further training requirements and agree a bespoke training plan for you and your employee.

Foundation and Honours DegreesWe offer part time degree programmes in Business Management, Early Years and Education awarded by our university partners, the University of Bolton and Staffordshire University.

In a market where higher level skills are increasingly in demand, this is a way of retaining and developing talent within your organisation as well as injecting new ideas into the business and keeping the knowledge and skills of your staff up to date.

Sponsoring employees to complete a degree level qualification can bring enormous benefits for your business. We can help you to explore full or part sponsorship options or you may just want to encourage staff to continue their own development by offering them an agreed amount of study time off work. As all programmes are delivered in the evenings, there is minimal impact on the working day.

Professional Qualifications for Teachers and TrainersIf your organisation employs staff in a teaching or training role, we also offer a full suite of qualifications to support and accredit their development.

Courses range from the new Award in Education and Training at Level 3 accredited by Ascentis (the starting point for all new teachers/trainers) through to Level 5 and Level 6 university accredited teaching qualifications. All programmes are part time, and at Levels 3 and 4 we can develop bespoke programmes for groups of staff to be delivered at a time and place to suit you. Distance learning programmes are also available.

For more information about our degree courses please call 0161 359 3405.
