Questions for the Parish

Parish Vision Statement:

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we strive to live our Faith in the love of Christ

by renewing hope and peace within our community and the world.

Parish Mission Statement:

An inclusive and welcoming Eucharistic community,

empowering our parish family through prayer and faith formation,

witnessing the Good News together in active service and outreach to one another.

In an effort to fully achieve and accomplish the Vision and Mission Statements of the Parish,

please prayerfully reflect on the following questions:

1. What are things that Mary Immaculate Parish does, that we should encourage to continue? 2. What are things Mary Immaculate Parish currently does, that no longer need to continue?

3. What are the new things that you would like to see in Mary Immaculate Parish for our continued growth?

Please note that we shall take some minutes before mass to answer these questions next weekend, July 21st & 22nd.

SUMMER SCHEDULE CHANGES

While Fr. Augustine is away for holiday, from July 24th to August 23rd, Mary Immaculate Parish will be

blessed by the services of both Fr. Terry McNamara and Fr. Jose Seminati.

Fr. Terry McNamara will be with Mary Immaculate from July 24th to the morning of August 11th. Fr. Jose

Seminati will be with Mary Immaculate from the evening of August 11th to August 23rd.

From July 24th to August 23rd, daily mass will continue, however, there will be no Adoration during this

time. Confessions will be available on Saturday mornings from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

We thank Fr. Terry and Fr. Joe for their service to Mary Immaculate and pray for Fr. Augustine as he travels

home for holidays.

Please also note the following changes to the Parish Office Hours: Monday - Closed

Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Calls returned the following day.

** The Parish Office will be closed both Monday, July 16th and Tuesday, July 17th **

Thank you for your understanding and your prayers during this time of holiday and transition.

Merlin Pilgrimage Carpool: Mary Immaculate Parish would like to have a strong presence at the Diocesan

Pilgrimage in August. Please contact the parish office if you plan on attending at the Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Our

Lady of the Rosary Shrine in Merlin on August 15th. Please advise if you have additional room in your vehicle and

are able to provide a ride for parishioners. Likewise, if you wish to attend the Pilgrimage but are in need of

transportation, please advise the office. Best efforts will be made to connect those in need of rides with those with

room to spare.

A Special Note (appeal) From Your Finance Committee:

Summertime is a great time to visit, to go away on vacation, to travel out of town and experience new adventures

and have some fun. Unfortunately, this also means that our Parish family shrinks significantly during the summer

months. This of course also affects our offertory in the same way, and typically, donations made during the summer

are not sufficient to pay all the bills, resulting in a deficit. This of course almost always results in an appeal in the Fall

for help by asking for more money. We thought we might try something different this year by asking everyone to try and remember

their home Parish while they are off on vacation. This would be an ideal time to consider enrolling in our direct deposit program

through the office…you can pick up a form at the back of the church. If you would rather just use envelopes, arrangements can also

be made to get them through the office as well. Thank you very much……..

Merlin Walking Pilgrimage - Bishops Fabbro and Dabrowski invite the faithful to celebrate the Solemnity of the

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Merlin on Wednesday, August

15, 2018. Bishop Fabbro will celebrate Mass at 11 o’clock, followed by lunch. Prior to the Mass, the Sacrament of

Reconciliation will be offered. After lunch, a Rosary Procession will take place, followed by Exposition of the Blessed

Sacrament at 2:15 pm.

Parishes are invited to organize a pilgrimage to this celebration. The faithful can also join a walking pilgrimage to the Shrine. There

will be two starting points for the pilgrimage; a 10 km walk will depart from the North Buxton Museum at 8:00 am, and a 5 km walk

will depart from the Merlin Community Hall at 9:00 am. Parishes are encouraged to organize a car or bus pool of pilgrims and join

one of the two departure locations. Pilgrims arriving by car will be able to park their vehicles at these locations and volunteers will be

available after the days celebrations to drive the pilgrims back to the parking lots. A diocesan representative will be at each of the

two departure points and will lead the pilgrims to the Shrine. Pilgrims are welcome to bring their own lunches, or purchase a

hamburger or hotdog from the Knights of Columbus for a small fee. It is not necessary to register for this celebration.
