A tale from the Nasreddin Hodja

The Cauldron Died One day Nasreddin Hodja needed a large cooking container, so he went to

his neighbor's house. He borrowed his neighbor's copper cauldron. His neighbor gave him a large cauldron and Hodja took it home. A few days later Hodja gave the cauldron with a small pot. His neighbor said thank you. But what is it for?

Hodja answered. "There is a small pot in your cauldron." and added "Your cauldron had a child. You can keep them both." The neighbor did not argue. He was very pleased. He took the nice little pot, because it didn't cost him anything.

Some time later the Hodja asked to borrow the cauldron again.

"Why not?" thought the neighbor. "Perhaps there will be another little pot in it when he returns the cauldron.

Three months passed but Hodja didn't give it neighbor went to the Hodja's house and asked him,

"My dear friend, replied the Hodja. I have bad news. Your cauldron died."

His neighbor was very suprised. "That's silly. A cauldron can not live, and it can not die. Give it back to me at once!"

Hodja smiled and answered, "You believed the cauldren had a child, so why can't it die?"

And the neighbor never again saw his cauldron.

FATİH SULTAN MEHMET (1432 - 1481)

Fatih Sultan Mehmet was born in Edirne on 30th March, 1432. He was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire

between the years 1444-1446 and 1451-1481.

He was one of the four sons of Murat II. He gave an end to the Byzantine

Empire and Medieval Age when he conquered Istanbul in 1453.

He died on the 3rd of May, 1481 in Hünkarçayırı, Istanbul. He is one of the

greatest rulers in human history. During his life he gave too much importance

to science, art and human rights. He helped all the poor and needy people

from all different religions and nations. He established a very strong law system.

He was well known with his justice and mercy.
