The Film Industry NetworkTheir article raises a very good point, where shorts are becoming the primary way of aspiring writers and directors to get their foot through the door to feature film, a short film to them is basically a calling card.

Plus it also addresses how difficult it is to make a short film financially viable because they return so much little money for the investment that is put in.

In this part it addresses the difficulty of the creator of shorts difficulty at getting realised due to the difficulty of gaining well known actors.

British Film Institute – Eat My Shorts

The BFI article also raises the point that short films are calling cards to get in to feature film but it has been done in a much more informative, formal way, where as the Film Industry Network article, addressed it only in the title, and the whole page and article is extremely informal.

Once again the BFI article has also addressed how difficult it is to find funding for a short, but once again it is so much more in depth, and so much more informative and formal than the Film Industry Network article.

TIME/IMAGEThis is a more formal article than the Film Industry Network article, it’s nearly on par with the BFI article, because of it’s formal lexis and use of information, for example it states how short films are used by filmmakers as calling cards.

In this it also addresses the problems that short filmmakers have when creating their films, such as getting funding or where to actually show them, seeing as the British Film Council no longer create, produce or fund films.

However, this paragraph highlights what has come along in recent years to help Filmmakers.

In contrast, the BFI article is pointing out most of the benefits for filmmakers, in this piece relating to the digital age and funding grants, not the shortcoming of the organisations that are supposed to provide for them.
