1. WIDE RANGE SWITCHING CAPABILITY

.Echo wipe is an effect with a graded mix. The pairing

wipe is the effect of a horizontal stripe pattern in pairs.

8 video inputs and 4 bus

Eight looping video inputs plus black/white or color

backgrounds are equipped for three effects modes, MIX,

WIPE, and an EXTERNAL KEY with A/B bus.

PRESET/PROGRAM bus

The Preset (PST)/Program (PGM) bus for the MIXING

(dissolve) or TAKE mode, and the preset bus displays the

exact result of the next lever movement.

Background color and color matte

A background color or black/white generator is provided in

addition to 8 video inputs.

Desired color background can be created.

External key

The external key mode is provided with a key bus, and

accepts signals from color or B/W camera sources.

Versatile wipe patterns and control

Nine kinds of patterns can be selected directly by pushing

the respective wipe pattern key on the control panel.

A total of 137 patterns can be selected from by inputting

the respective wipe pattern numbers. Mosaic patterns

such as 8 x 8 are included. Wipe pattern modifiers, such

as the positioner, the border wipe, softness border edge,

and echo/pairing wipe further expand the applications of

wipe effects when used in combination with the wipe

patterns.

The downstream keyer (DSK) of the SEG-2550A/2550AP

accepts a key signal from a B/W camera or from a

SMC- 70G/70GP Son~ microcomputer.

Shadow and edge adjustment

The shadow of the key signal can be narrow or wide. The

edge adjustment of the insert signal from a B/W camera

makes the key signal clear.

are memorized. All of the data memorized can be

displayed in 3 pages on a display monitor. A maximum of

63 effect events can be memorized and displayed on the

CRT. They can be reproduced sequentially or randomly by

the effect event number assigned to them. And they can

be also reproduced on the EDL (Edit Decision List) of the

BVE-900 through the RS-232C communication port.

The E-File operation is possible with the SEG-2550AI

2550AP control panel, and also from an external

computer through RS-232C communication port.

Independent color generation for the DSK

The color of the insert source can be selected from the

color matte generation, B/W or, external source (eg. painted

characters with colors generated by the SMC- 70G/70G~)

Preset and Program

Preset/Program cut in/out mode is provided to preview the

result of the downstream key effects.

Normal/Invert mode

Normal mode or invert mode can be selected according

to the white or black key base..DSP indication

3. POST PRODUCTION INTERFACE

Interface with an Editing Controller, the

BVE-900

The SEG-2550A/2550AP can be controlled directly from

the Sony BVE-900 Editing Controller with a BKE-915

(RS-232C interface board). Through the RS-232C

communication port, SEG-2550A/2550AP can be used in

a modern post production system with the BVE-900.

The control panel of the SEG-2550A/2550AP can be

manually controlled even when it is under the control of

the BVE-900.

Trigger and GPI connectors

The E.File "TAKE" command can be remotely controlled

via the trigger connector of the SMC.70G/70GR and the

"TAKE" and "PGM DSK" commands can be remotely

controlled via the GPI connector from the BVE.900 Editing

Controller.

Built-in sync generator

The SEG-2550A/2550AP has an built-in sync generator

which meets the RS-170A standard (NTSC). Black burst

signals are used for the synchronization of the equipment

connected to the SEG-2550A/2550AP. If a reference black

burst signal or VBS signal is supplied to the genlock input

connector, the SEG-2550A/2550AP will be synchronized

with external equipment.

Tallyand intercom facility

Four tally/intercom input connectors are equipped to

provide two way communication between the operator of

the SEG-2550A/2550AP and camera operator. The tally

lamp of the selected camera will automatically light up.

The intercom volume is adjustable from the control panel

of the SEG-2550A/2550AP.

19-jnch rack mountable

The SEG-2550A/2550AP can be mounted in a 19-inch EIA

rack to complement your existing studio system. The unit

is 7 rack units high.

Torque adjustableThe torque of the effects levers can be adjusted as the

operator desires.

Easy SC/H phase adjustment

Both the H and SC phases between the SEG-2550A/2550AP

and inputs 1 through 8 can be individually adjusted by

H phase adjustment

observing the phase indication pattern displayed on the

preset monitor. Because there is no need for a waveform

monitor or vectorscope, adjustments are quick and easy.

Interface capability with CRK-2000/2000P

The SEG-2550A/2550AP can be directly interfaced with

the CRK-2000/2000P which provides chroma key

operations.
