The Sea of the Monster

This book talks about three kids that are name Percy, Tyson and Annabeth, who make and adventure to save a friend and a pine tree. This book is very interesting to me because I like all the risks that the take during the adventure and how the characters work as a group while they are in danger.

This book starts when Percy wakes up from a bad dream, about his friend Grover. He was very scared and he thought that the dream means something. When he got up from bed and was ready to go to his last day of school, his mom told him that he can´t go to camp. A camp that he goes every summer that is called Camp Half-Blood Hill. She told him that she is going to talk with him when he came back from school. When he was in school, in gym class with his friend Tyson, a homeless kid, some monsters appeared to kill Percy. All the kids in gym class were screaming, but Tyson was saving Percy, because he was catching and throwing back the fire balls that the monsters were throwing. Then Annabeth appeared a friend of Percy from the camp and save him and all the kids. When the monsters were gone Annabeth told Percy that they need to go to the camp because something bad was happening. She told him that what was happening was that a pine tree name Thalia, a tree that protects the camp was dying and the camp was destroying. So they need it to go to the camp.

When they were on their way Annabeth called a magic cab to take them to the camp. Then Tyson didn´t know what was happening so Percy told Tyson that he is Poseidon son and that he is a demi god, half mortal and half immortal and that the camp that they are going is a camp of the kids of the gods. When Percy told that to Tyson he didn´t look surprise, so that surprise Percy. When the cab came to take them to the camp it was driving by three sisters. Two blind and one with one eye. The 3 sisters told Percy coordinates about a place that they were talking about, but Percy didn’t understand anything about the coordinates. The coordinates were 30, 31, 75, and 12.

When they got to camp Percy saw the campers fighting with monsters and the camp destroying. What happened was that someone poisoned Thalia´s tree and the camp didn’t have protection so that was why there were monster flying over the camp and attacking the campers and destroying the camp. Then they saw a camper name Clarisse fighting with the monsters, so they went to save her. When the monsters were gone Percy was surprise that Tyson didn´t die, so Annabeth told Percy that Tyson is a Cyclop a type of monster. Then Clarisse told them that Chiron the activities director was fire. When they knew that they went to Chiron´s room and he told them that they fire him because they think that he poisoned Thalia´s tree, but he didn´t. When they went to dinner Mr. D the camp director told them that the new activities director would be a prisoner name Tantalus. When they were eating a light appeared in Tyson´s head and it was that Poseidon had claimed Tyson. So Tyson is Percy´s half-brother. When they saw that everybody laugh because Tyson is a monster but Annabeth had told Percy that Cyclops are children of nature spirits and gods, so that was normal. Then Tyson was Percy´s half-brother and new cabin mate, but Percy didn’t like that, so if someone told him that Tyson is his brother he would said that Tyson is not his brother.

The days pass and the camp got worst. Percy kept having those dreams about Grover and then he knew that those dreams mean something that he needs to save Grover and the camp. In his dreams Grover told him that he needs the fleece a magical thing that is very powerful and that can cure and save anything to save the camp and the tree and that he need it to save him from the Cyclops. Grover told Percy that he is in an island called The Sea of the Monsters. One day, Tantalus was telling the campers that they are going to make a chariot race. All the campers were excited because it passes a long time since they make a chariot race.
